Following Big Show announcing himself as the no.1 entrant for the 2016 Royal Rumble, on this week’s RAW, speculation has been rife as to whether the giant will actually start as the no.1 entrant which is usually reserved for smaller guys.
Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Radio noted first that a source told him that Big Show would indeed be no.1 in the 30-man Royal Rumble main event. However, WWE later confirmed to him that Show wouldn’t be getting the no.1 spot that night.
It remains to be seen where this leads to, as only 2 wrestlers, Chris Benoit & Shawn Michaels, have ever gone on from no.1 to winning the whole Rumble event. WWE posted the following teaser on their website, which notably, doesn’t mention Show coming in at no.1:
The Superstars who draw Nos. 1 and 2 begin the bout, and a new Superstar joins the fray every 90 seconds until all 30 Superstars have entered the ring. The only way to be eliminated is to be thrown over the top rope and to the outside, with both feet touching the floor.
The last man standing will not only be the 2016 Royal Rumble Match winner, but also the No. 1 Contender to the WWE World Heavyweight Title at WrestleMania.
Big Show became the first Superstar to declare his participation, officially entering himself in theRoyal Rumble Match on the Dec. 28 edition of Raw. What other competitors will join The World’s Largest Athlete?
