He is regarded as one of the veterans in the WWE locker room today, however, is well-known for having had a few notable botches in the past—including the time he threw up during a SmackDown episode.
The heart of the matter
It was at WWE’s Greatest Royal Rumble PPV event that O’Neil entered the 50-Man Royal Rumble Match at number-39.
While most Superstars run down the ramp and slide into the ring as part of their Royal Rumble entrance, O’Neil tripped on his way to the ring and went flying forward—sliding right under the ring apron.
The video served to garner O’Neil considerable attention in the sports-entertainment world, in addition to his now-infamous entrance being utilised in several online memes.
The belief is that as a result of O’Neil’s entrance, everyone backstage “lost it”—with WWE Superstars as well as officials laughing hysterically.
Furthermore, it’s been noted that with the announcers laughing uncontrollably and considering how the live camera shot didn’t pick up O’Neil sliding under the ring apron, WWE officials immediately called for O’Neil’s entrance to be replayed a few times.
What’s next?
O’Neil presently performs for the WWE’s RAW brand and is the leader of his “Titus Worldwide” faction.
The vast majority of professional wrestling experts believe that O’Neil is likely to benefit from his unintentionally hilarious entrance and be featured more prominently on WWE programming in the days to come.
Author’s take
O’Neil is perhaps one of the most sporting people you’d ever come across.
He seems to be taking the botched entrance in his stride, and perhaps WWE could incorporate something outlandish into his gimmick—drawing inspiration from the hilarious entrance—from this point moving forward.
