#2 WWE booked 5 matches on SmackDown that held little to no purpose
Friday Night SmackDown is usually the better-booked show of WWE's main roster shows, but for some reason this week they had five matches of very little consequence.
The first match of the night was the Riott Squad challenging the WWE Women's Tag Team Champions Asuka and Charlotte Flair. The champions went over dominantly, leaving the Riott Squad back to square one with no momentum from now on.
The second match was Cesaro vs. Dolph Ziggler in an unannounced match. The match was quick and pointless with Cesaro winning easily, which begs why use Ziggler in this role?
Ziggler is one half of that SmackDown Tag Team Champions and should be made to look strong and not job out two weeks after winning the belts with Robert Roode.
Next up, Sasha Banks took on Carmella's sommelier, Reginald. The match had some nice Lucha Libre style wrestling, but once again had no consequence moving the Banks and Carmella feud forward.
The following match saw the Intercontinental Championship on the line between Big E and Apollo Crews. This bout was gearing to be a great match, but Sami Zayn interfered taking out both men at the three-minute mark.
To have championship match cut so short to continue the Big E and Crews feud was bizarre and annoying, and WWE could have achieved the same result in a much better way.
Then Baron Corbin defeated Dominik Mysterio in two and a half minutes in a match that did nothing for either man.
The show's final match was supposed to be WWE official Adam Pearce vs. Paul Heyman, which was a huge swerve and ended in a massive angle involving Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens.
The final angle and the Bayley and Bianca Belair segment were the only good things on the entire show, which is bizarre and confusing as SmackDown is usually the A brand.
