WCW became serious competitors for WWE by poaching a lot of their talent, including Scott Hall and Kevin Nash, in addition to Hulk Hogan and Macho Man. The only AEW star who's a worldwide name (except for Chris Jericho) is Jon Moxley, because of his WWE run. In fact, him closing out the show at Double or Nothing pretty much made the event a truly unforgettable affair.
The big surprises at All Out were Arn Anderson and LAX, and no offense to them, they did not have the same kind of impact on the industry that Moxley did. It is truly tragic that he could not make it for the match against Omega (PAC did a commendable job, but he's no Moxley).
It did not help matters that a lot of people expected CM Punk to show up at AEW All Out. Despite all his protestations, any show in Chicago will always induce fans to believe in this. Without him, it just seemed like a glorified independent event.
