I suppose there could be a variety of reasons why AEW decided to go with Chris Jericho as the inaugural World Champion instead of someone like Hangman Page. It probably has to do with the fact that he's already a globally recognized worldwide star as opposed to someone like Page who's just getting there. At the same time, AEW had a chance to create a brand new star which they didn't capitalize on.

I suppose that the months and years that follow will illustrate whether this was the right move. But while I liked their decision of going with someone like Nyla Rose over an easy choice like Britt Baker, because it was bold, this seemed like a very safe bet. Especially one to end your big pay-per-view on.
That said, Jericho is the greatest of all time and I don't mind him as the Champion at all. He will bring a unique flavor to AEW on TNT.
