Whenever a new Superstar debuts in a promotion, it is always important for it to feel big or shock the audience... well, not in the way that Shockmaster did in his infamous first appearance.
However, AEW managed a perfect debut for one wrestler tonight, as while Cody came out to brawl with Chris Jericho and MJF despite being injured, he was put right in his place immediately, by what appears to be MJF's new muscle — Wardlow.

The brawny Superstar appeared from behind Cody and took him out with a clothesline, before listening to MJF and using his own tie to hang Cody from the ropes.
This debut and his pairing with MJF might be the best thing for Wardlow as it serves three purposes. MJF can be the one to talk and Wardlow does not need to be near a mic immediately, he can be slowly introduced and the audience can become familiar with him, and finally, he was shown to take out Cody. What could be a better beginning for a new Superstar?
