One of the most shocking WWE moments of 2019 occurred on the premiere episode of SmackDown on FOX when Brock Lesnar won the WWE Championship from Kofi Kingston in a match that lasted just nine seconds.
Speaking on the latest episode of Corey Graves’ After The Bell podcast, all three members of The New Day discussed Kingston’s six-month title reign and the sudden end to the storyline.
While Kingston had a positive take on the booking decision and admitted his character did not deserve a rematch against Lesnar, Big E revealed that he was “irate” when he found out that his fellow New Day colleague was going to lose in such quick fashion.
“Kofi is a lot more level-headed than maybe anyone else I’ve ever met in the business, because everyone else would have reacted [negatively]. I was irate when I found out about it. That’s a testament to Kofi. I’m not going to say no one else in the industry, but very, very few people would have that same approach and be able to move on and not have this feeling of sour grapes and that they were wronged.”

The New Day’s current WWE status
Unfortunately for Xavier Woods, he suffered an Achilles injury during WWE’s tour of Australia in October and is expected to be sidelined until at least mid-2020.
In his absence, Kofi Kingston and Big E defeated The Revival to win the SmackDown Tag Team titles, meaning The New Day are now seven-time Tag Team Champions.
