It was recently reported that Bobby Lashley's time with WWE may be close to ending as his contract is about to expire. While his run in the Stamford-based promotion is coming to a close, this could mean the beginning of a new version of The Hurt Business.
Fans have not seen Bobby Lashley on WWE television since April of this year. He was supposed to partake in the King of the Ring tournament but was sidelined with an injury during his training. However, the wrestling world was shocked after learning that The All Mighty was recently removed from the internal roster, along with MVP and Tamina Snuka. With reports circulating that his contract is coming up, a reunion with The Hurt Business in another wrestling promotion is likely to happen.
As per Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Bobby Lashley and MVP may be looking to reunite The Hurt Business on AEW, along with Shelton Benjamin, who is currently a free agent. However, it remains unknown if they will retain the group's name or use a different one due to ownership.
The Hurt Business was formed in 2020 and was composed of Lashley, MVP, Shelton, and Cedric Alexander. They broke up in 2022 and teased a reunion throughout the years, but it never took place. However, previous reports indicated that Lashley and MVP didn't want the group to break up in the first place.
Last month, MVP disclosed on Instagram that he asked Triple H to reunite the group, but it didn't happen. Since the majority of the members seem to be positive about a reunion, it could likely take place outside of WWE.
Which former WWE champion could join Bobby Lashley in The Hurt Business?
As mentioned above, Cedric Alexander is also a former member of The Hurt Business, but it seems like he will be staying with the Stamford-based promotion as he just joined NXT. However, one star who could fill in his spot is Ricochet.
The former Intercontinental Champion's contract with WWE ended in June, and reports circulated that he could be inbound for All Elite Wrestling. If this is the case, then there is a possibility he could meet Lashley, Benjamin, and MVP in the company. If that happens, The Hurt Business could welcome Ricochet, especially after it was previously revealed that he was supposed to join the group as well.
It would be interesting to see what happens next with Bobby Lashley and The Hurt Business.
