WWE has several options when it comes to Brock Lesnar's impending return to the company. However, an interesting one could be that one where his former rival actually requests his presence.
CM Punk is looking to push forward in WWE following his recent Drew McIntyre feud. It is likely that it will be Gunther who The Best In The World is looking to challenge, should Finn Balor be unsuccessful in defeating The Ring General at Saturday Night's Main Event on December 14.
An interesting swerve here could be that CM Punk asks Paul Heyman to bring back Brock Lesnar to help him defeat The Ring General, which could then set up Gunther vs Brock at WrestleMania 41 next year.
Punk would then be free to take the World Heavyweight Championship into WrestleMania and battle Seth Rollins, which would be almost identical to the match the company planned to main event WrestleMania 40 earlier this year.
Brock Lesnar and CM Punk have crossed paths in the past but haven't been in WWE together for more than a decade
Brock Lesnar and CM Punk are both Paul Heyman guys and they crossed paths in one of the most brutal matches in WWE history at SummerSlam 2013. This happened just months before Punk walked away from the Stamford-based promotion, and since his return, Lesnar has been AWOL.
This means that it has been more than a decade since Lesnar and Punk were both part of WWE at the same time and it could finally be time for them to reunite. The last time the two men saw each other, The Beast destroyed The Second City Saint, but this could be different if Heyman requests Lesnar's return and he still has a grudge against Gunther.
Both men have pushed for this "dream match" and it's easy to see Lesnar making his return leading into WrestleMania, especially if The Rock's status for the show remains up in the air.
