During last night’s RAW in the Houston area, WWE announced a blockbuster match-up between former WWE World Heavyweight champions Brock Lesnar and Sheamus, to take place at the January 8th WWE live event from the Toyota Center.
Also announced for the same night is a match between John Cena and WWE US champion Alberto Del Rio. The streak of Lesnar returning at the WWE live events continues with this latest development.
He was last seen at the WWE Live event at The Forum in Inglewood, California earlier this month when he defeated Del Rio by disqualification. Lesnar and Sheamus have never faced each other before this and this one should be a barnburner, given the physical styles of both men.
Incidentally, in various interviews, Sheamus has asked for a match with Lesnar after both their names being brought up when discussing the hardest hitters in the WWE at present.
Sheamus, along with Del Rio, Rusev and King Barrett form the faction known as League of Nations. It was Rusev’s interference during Lesnar’s match against Del Rio that caused a Disqualification finish.
With both men set to clash in a non-televised event, it is safe to assume that Sheamus wouldn’t be Brock Lesnar’s Wrestlemania opponent or a TV feud anytime soon.
