The Streak was a progression of 21 triumphs for proficient grappler The Undertaker (original name: Mark William Calaway) at WWE's chief yearly occasion, WrestleMania. It started in 1991 at WrestleMania 7 after beating Jimmy Snuka, and the last win of 'The Streak' came against CM Punk in 2013 at WrestleMania 29. In general, "The Deadman" beat 18 men during the Streak, including three matches with Triple H and two each for Kane and Shawn Michaels, and a 2 on 1 match as the opponent of The Big Show and A-Train at WrestleMania 19. The Streak became the foundation of WrestleMania, with a likely success over The Undertaker at the occasion being depicted as a more noteworthy distinction than bringing home the WWE Title.
How and by whom did “The Streak” end
WrestleMania 30 was on April 6 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. The Undertaker entered the WrestleMania match as the favorite, as usual. The battle began with Lesnar clotheslining Undertaker over the top rope. The two men engaged in an early chokeslam and F-5 attempts but effortlessly avoided the finishers. They then moved out of the ring, where Lesnar slammed Undertaker onto the floor, resulting in a serious head injury that lasted throughout the match. Lesnar subsequently sent Undertaker into a guardrail before bringing him back into the ring. Following a few punches from Lesnar, Undertaker retaliated with a DDT.
Undertaker delivered a big boot and dropped the leg for a two-count, followed by a chokeslam and then an attempted Tombstone Piledriver before Lesnar countered with an F-5, from which Undertaker kicked out. Undertaker then applied his submission hold, Hell's Gate, but Lesnar broke free, lifted Undertaker, and executed a powerbomb. After several more submission holds were applied by both men, Lesnar countered an attempt by Undertaker into another F-5 for a near fall. Undertaker responded with a Last Ride powerbomb and a Tombstone Piledriver for a near fall. As Undertaker attempted a second Tombstone Piledriver, Lesnar countered and executed an F-5 on Undertaker to win the match, ending Undertaker's undefeated streak at WrestleMania in a match lasting 25 minutes and 12 seconds.
Aftermath
Paul Heyman was in complete shock at the outcome and WWE didn't play Lesnar's signature music following his triumph, featuring the response of a stunned and shocking audience. The graphical content on the arena's screens showed The Undertaker's WrestleMania record of "21-1". The audience, at last, booed Lesnar as he left. The Undertaker was left in the ring and as he gradually strolled up the on-ramp, WWE's hosts gave him wildly energetic applause while the people in the arena recited his name which was joined by a "Thank You Taker" shoutout.
