In early 2001, it was becoming blatantly obvious that WCW was in trouble. With this said, rumours flew like wildfires regarding the fate of World Championship Wrestling. During Monday Night RAW on March 26, 2001, Shane McMahon suddenly appeared on the WWE jumbotron, holding a WCW microphone, standing inside a WCW ring. Fans went absolutely bananas as Shane-O-Mac announced that he had apparently purchased WCW.
