WWE has been testing the waters of a Cesaro babyface turn for several weeks. For all intents and purposes, Cesaro has passed with flying colors. Armed with a finisher that is impossible to boo, Cesaro has been highlighted in a string of matches with his Big Swing maneuver.
Cesaro is armed with a deep arsenal of offense that almost contradicts his standing as a heel. It will allow him to establish his credibility as an entertainer before building on what will be a promising babyface resume. Cesaro’s advanced move set will be more than enough to overcome limitations in charisma and promos. Now on his way to being an entertainer, the more his wrestling speaks for itself, the brighter his future becomes
The independent standout swings his opposition in repetition, bringing live audiences to their feet while telling a story to the television audience via John “Bradshaw” Layfield’s exuberant counting with every revolution. Cesaro’s ability to pull off the impressive feat on WWE Superstars, ranging from Hornswoggle to The Great Khali, provides a unique showcase of strength and entertainment all in one swing.
Currently, aligned with the heel stable The Real Americans, Cesaro may stand behind Zeb Colter’s xenophobic propaganda, but it’s only a matter of time before he stands on his own as a babyface. His in-ring ability has never come into question, but as many of the past wrestlers can attest, pure wrestling will only get you so far in the WWE. Above all else, Cesaro must be an entertainer.
Cesaro’s Big Swing, as entertaining as it is, is but a foot in the door. Once he inevitably turns face, simply relying on that spot would make him a one-move wonder no better than any other superstar.
This is where his current manager Zeb colter comes into play. He has to play a very important role in elevating the stature of Cesaro for the duo to succeed. Zeb Colter should remain with Cesaro as he climbs the ladder to becoming a main event star for WWE.
Cesaro’s genuine toughness, natural athletic abilities and, of course, the Big Swing are positioning him to be one of the new fan favorites. Colter is also getting more popular. We’re getting fewer heel promos from him ripping the local audience.Cesaro’s biggest challenge will be finding his voice. We know what Cesaro can do and looks like in the ring. How does he speak and talk you into the building? It’s this we need to find out and this factor which makes you a star.
It is way harder to make it to the top in the business without being able to verbally express themselves—or having a manager to do so.
It would make a lot of sense to keep Colter and Cesaro together for the foreseeable future. We do not see a lot of babyface managers around, but in this case, it would be logical. Both Colter and Cesaro will only continue to endear themselves to the audience with all the uniqueness they bring. It would add a lot of depth to Cesaro’s Character and would also get Zeb the right wrestler to manage.
Colter can still cut promos and add some of his natural sense of humor. There is something likable about his personality as long as he’s not screaming that you’re illegally in the country. This on top of Colter’s unique look and Cesaro’s impressive skills in the ring could produce a great draw.
The “We the People” chant is over with the crowd. They can even redefine what the slogan means. They can spin it from the heel origins it had with Colter and Jack Swagger to a declaration of pride. All it takes is a few convincing promos and the commentators to push it. Once that happens, it could be a money-making slogan for merchandise.
Colter and Cesaro have entertainment written all over them. They would thrive together as a babyface faction.
