CM Punk to face ex-WWE Universal Champion with whom he has real-life heat at WrestleMania? Possibility explored

WWE Superstar CM Punk currently has his hands full with Seth Rollins on Monday Night RAW. However, The Best in the World has already established that he is aiming to win top gold again and has taken some shots at Gunther. However, an interesting development indicates that he could face Kevin Owens for a world title instead of The Ring General at WrestleMania 41.

The Prizefighter currently has possession of the historic Winged Eagle title. KO stole the belt after he injured Cody Rhodes with a Package Piledriver following which The American Nightmare had to be taken to a local hospital. Now, Owens trespassed and entered the kickoff show of RAW’s Netflix premiere and called himself the true champion.

Interestingly, as Kevin Owens was being escorted out, he also said that he had “the best moveset” to the camera. This was a direct attack on CM Punk who has previously expressed his disdain for the word 'moveset.'

Here's what he had to say following Saturday Night's Main Event:

“It’s garbage. If you say that, you’re an idiot. Especially if you’re a wrestler and you say ‘moveset,’ that 100% tells me you don’t know what the hell you’re doing.”

The promotion has given several hints which indicate that Kevin Owens could dethrone Cody Rhodes and become the next Undisputed WWE Champion. If The Prizefighter wins the gold, the company could make CM Punk his WrestleMania 41 opponent if the latter wins The Royal Rumble. While this is a direction the company can take, all of this is speculation so far.

CM Punk could also face John Cena in a title match at WrestleMania 41

WWE Superstars John Cena and CM Punk have had one of the biggest and most iconic pro wrestling rivalries. As Cena retires in 2025, several fans have expressed that they would love to see him go in the ring with Punk one last time. Interestingly, the Stamford-based promotion has a chance to deliver this match to the audience and add the Undisputed WWE Championship to the stakes.

If Kevin Owens wins the championship, the company can put him in a title match with Punk at either Royal Rumble or the Elimination Chamber. WWE can also make John Cena win the final Royal Rumble of his career to earn his WrestleMania ticket for a world title.

Thus, if Punk dethrones KO, then the main event of WrestleMania 41 could feature The Best in the World against Cena. It would be interesting to see if these two rivals battle each other in the squared circle once again.
