CM Punk's first televised singles match since making his return to WWE last year did not go how he planned. While Punk had his moments in the bout, he was too focused on getting his bracelet back, which eventually cost him the win against Drew McIntyre.
This loss will sting even more because McIntyre has once again taken Punk's bracelet. While it remains to be seen what The Best in the World will do, in this article we will look at three directions he could go in after this major setback at SummerSlam 2024.
#3 CM Punk can attack Seth Rollins on RAW and turn heel
After CM Punk successfully snatched his bracelet from Drew McIntyre during their match at SummerSlam, Seth Rollins picked up the bracelet when it fell on the canvas. This enraged Punk who began arguing with Rollins. When Rollins was explaining his actions, McIntyre launched an attack that took out Punk and Rollins.
While Punk was able to answer this with a GTS and immediately went for the cover, Rollins took time to respond since he was attacked. Later, The Best in the World was also seen distracted because he ended up delivering a GTS to The Visionary.
Hence, on the upcoming episode of RAW, CM Punk could look to injure Seth Rollins and turn heel. Even in his previous run with WWE, some of Punk's best work came as a heel and it would be interesting to see how he approaches his rivalry with the Scotsman and the 38-year-old Rollins.
#2 Triple Threat bout at a PLE
If CM Punk does end up attacking Seth Rollins, many would assume that they would see a match between the two. However, a bout between Punk and Rollins is not that simple given Drew McIntyre is still feuding with The Best in the World.
Therefore, WWE could decide to book a Triple Threat match between Punk, Rollins, and McIntyre at a premium live event like Bash in Berlin or Bad Blood. It will be interesting to see which superstar would prevail in a potential match like this.
#1 Hell in a Cell match against Drew McIntyre
On Monday Night RAW, if Seth Rollins decides he wants nothing to do with the rivalry between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre, the duo could continue feuding. They could eventually settle their differences at WWE Bad Blood in October.
Back in the day, Bad Blood was famous for hosting Hell in a Cell matches. This is why the upcoming edition of the event could also feature a Hell in a Cell showdown between Punk and McIntyre.
