#3 Quality of opponents
Brock Lesnar was involved in largely meaningless rivalries with the Wyatt Family, Dean Ambrose and Randy Orton for much of 2016, so it’s felt like a significant upgrade over the last 18 months to see him taking on the likes of Goldberg, Samoa Joe, Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman and Kane in meaningful title matches.
Five years earlier, CM Punk was facing several top stars on the WWE roster, including Alberto Del Rio, Chris Jericho, Daniel Bryan, John Cena and, of course, The Rock. However, his reign also involved title matches with lower-profile guys including Dolph Ziggler and Ryback.
