CM Punk and Drew McIntyre are now officially set to lock horns at Bash in Berlin. The most recent episode of WWE RAW saw The Best in the World once again engage in a segment with the Scotsman. During the segment, Punk had a strap around his neck, leading him to challenge Drew to a Strap Match at the upcoming premium live event.
The former Royal Rumble winner walked out onto the entrance ramp and accepted the challenge, making their Strap Match official for Bash in Berlin 2024.
A Strap Match is considered one of the most dangerous stipulations in WWE. In the past, we've even seen the Universal Championship defended with this stipulation when the late, great Bray Wyatt, as The Fiend, wrestled against former WWE Superstar Daniel Bryan (aka Bryan Danielson) at Royal Rumble 2020.
In a Strap Match, a superstar cannot win by pinfall or submission. Victory is only achieved by touching all four corners of the turnbuckles in the squared circle. These touches must be made within a limited time, or they will be deemed invalid.
During this segment on RAW, the Voice of the Voiceless also confirmed that to ensure victory, a superstar must touch all four corners. Nevertheless, it's important to note that in the past, some strap matches in WWE have been won by pinfall. With Punk's segment, it appears that this match will strictly adhere to the rule that victory can only be achieved by touching all four corners.
It will be interesting to see how things unfold at Bash in Berlin when Drew McIntyre and CM Punk clash in this intense matchup.
Does Drew McIntyre have an advantage over CM Punk in the Strap Match?
Drew McIntyre and CM Punk's Strap Match at Bash in Berlin will indeed be a spectacle to witness, but several factors suggest McIntyre might have an advantage over Punk in this match. One of the biggest reasons is the height advantage the Scottish Warrior has over CM Punk. This advantage could allow Drew to pull Punk more easily and touch the corners of the ring.
Additionally, in WWE's last Strap Match, McIntyre was involved when he faced Karrion Kross. Although Drew lost that match, with Kross securing the win via pinfall, the experience of being in a Strap Match could still work in McIntyre's favor.
Only time will tell who will walk out as the winner at Bash in Berlin when CM Punk and Drew McIntyre collide.
