WWE has booked an action-packed show for SummerSlam 2024 where the top superstars from RAW and SmackDown will step into the spotlight. Barring the tag team championships, the biggest prizes from both brands will be on the line at the premium live event this weekend.
Additionally, Triple H has booked one non-title match for the show, which will see three massive names sharing the squared circle. While everyone will be eager to walk out of the show with a big win, some wrestlers need the victory more than their opponents.
Here, we look at four WWE Superstars who desperately need to win at SummerSlam 2024. So, without further ado, let's begin.
#1. Cody Rhodes needs to end his rivalry with The Bloodline
Cody Rhodes is set to defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against Solo Sikoa at SummerSlam. The latter left no stone unturned in haunting The American Nightmare, especially after he took over as the new Tribal Chief and revamped the Bloodline. Sikoa ordered an attack on Paul Heyman and openly denied Roman Reigns' authority in his absence. Many expect Reigns to finally return and confront Sikoa at SummerSlam.
But before that happens, Cody Rhodes must retain his title to put a much-needed pause on his feud with The Bloodline. There is no denying that other members of The Bloodline might make their presence known with familiar interferences during the title match at SummerSlam. They might do so to help Solo Sikoa bring back the gold that Roman Reigns lost at WrestleMania XL.
However, The American Nightmare must walk away with a clean victory at the upcoming PLE to put The Bloodline behind him and turn his attention towards other challengers, leaving Solo Sikoa in a potential feud with Roman Reigns.
#2. Liv Morgan stuns Rhea Ripley with shocking twist at SummerSlam
Liv Morgan arguably took everything that belonged to Rhea Ripley as part of her revenge tour. The next chapter of their brutal feud will be scripted this weekend when Ripley challenges Morgan for the Women's World Championship. Mami already took back Dominik Mysterio and now hopes to reclaim the title she was forced to relinquish due to her injury.
However, this match must end with Liv Morgan successfully defending her Women's World Championship. Recent events in WWE RAW have hinted at a potential betrayal during this match. Even if Dominik Mysterio doesn't help Morgan pin Ripley, we may see Finn Balor do so and reveal himself as the true mastermind behind the entire plot leading up to the show. This will help Morgan and Ripley look strong while setting up The Judgment Day's implosion.
#3. LA Knight should win the United States Championship
WWE fans have waited a long time to see LA Knight finally win a title on the main roster. He has undeniably been one of the hottest superstars on SmackDown and is set to challenge Logan Paul for the United States Championship at SummerSlam this weekend.
Knight was denied this title opportunity a couple of times in the past, but he has earned himself a big championship bout at SummerSlam. As impressive as Logan Paul has been, his championship reign has grown stale, especially because of his sporadic title defenses. Knight must win the United States Championship in a decision that would benefit both him and SmackDown going forward.
#4. Drew McIntyre must defeat CM Punk at SummerSlam
Drew McIntyre has been involved in a bitter rivalry with CM Punk, and the two are finally set to lock horns in a grudge match at SummerSlam. This highly anticipated bout will also see Seth Rollins act as the special guest referee, which would be interesting considering his animosity with both McIntyre and Punk.
This would be CM Punk's first match in WWE after a prolonged injury. As entertaining as he has been, Punk could take the loss at the upcoming premium live event. McIntyre has been on a whole other level as a menacing heel, and he needs this victory to redeem himself after suffering major losses recently.
The Scottish Warrior does not need a clean win. Instead, WWE could use Seth Rollins as the deciding factor to book CM Punk's loss and McIntyre's opportunistic win. This would leave McIntyre free to chase the world championship again while leaving Punk to feud with The Architect. Moreover, a controversial finish to the match would likely set up a huge triple-threat match between Seth Rollins, CM Punk, and Drew Mcintyre at WWE Bad Blood.
