Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns teamed up at WWE Bad Blood 2024 to take on common enemies in the form of the new iteration of The Bloodline. The duo defeated Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu with the help of a returning Jimmy Uso. The Rock also made a shocking return just as the PLE was about to go off the air. Then, after the show, Kevin Owens turned his back on The American Nightmare, launching an attack on the champion in the parking lot.
WWE officials were not happy with KO’s actions, and he was fined and suspended. On this week’s episode of SmackDown, Kevin Owens entered the ring despite his suspension to address his part of the story but his mic was cut off. Now, The Prizefighter’s betrayal could have led to a rivalry between the legendary Randy Orton and Rhodes.
We saw Orton tell Rhodes he was okay with him teaming with Roman Reigns as long as it didn't affect them in any way. However, on the latest edition of the blue brand, Kevin Owens snapped at The Viper and criticized how he was trying to mediate between his two good friends.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
The Prizefighter turned on Rhodes after he shook hands with one of his bitter foes, and now that Cody’s alliance has affected Orton's and Owens’ bond, The Viper may have a problem with The American Nightmare. Some eagle-eyed fans have also noticed The Legend Killer eyeing the Undisputed WWE Championship.
The legendary former WWE Champion even ignited a misunderstanding between KO and Rhodes before Bad Blood when he did not inform Owens that Cody would come out to help them if the rest of The Bloodline interfered in their Tag Team Match against Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu.
All hints seemingly point to the Apex Predator showing his true colors after The American Nightmare is done with The Bloodline and Kevin Owens. A match between former faction-mates could then be booked at WrestleMania 41.
Fans have been pushing the narrative of a dream match since Rhodes came back to the Stamford-based promotion. We are heading in the right direction with the seeds for this storyline seemingly having been planted.
Massive match set for Cody Rhodes at Crown Jewel 2024
Before turning his attention to his former mentor, Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes needs to handle the business ahead of him. The American Nightmare needs to focus on his upcoming Champion vs. Champion match at WWE Crown Jewel 2024.
At Bad Blood 2024, Triple H announced that the world champions of both brands would clash in Saudi Arabia, with the winner being crowned the new Crown Jewel Champion. Gunther and Cody Rhodes will lock horns for the big prize at the Mohammed Abdo Arena in Riyadh on November 2.
It remains to be seen how Cody Rhodes’s journey will develop in the coming weeks and in which direction the Triple H-led creative will lead him, as he has multiple unfinished matters to deal with.
