Cody Rhodes has made himself a target since defeating Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Championship. Although both men were seemingly on the same page the last time they saw each other, they remain rivals. However, they should set aside their rivalry for a potentially bigger enemy.
Cody Rhodes finished his story by defeating Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania XL. The latter hasn't been on television after the event, causing Solo Sikoa to lead The Bloodline and feud with The American Nightmare. At the 2024 SummerSlam, Sikoa and Cody faced for the gold and the end of their match saw Roman return to attack his cousin. Both men have acknowledged that a trilogy is bound to happen at some point, but a looming heel turn from Randy Orton could be something they should worry about first.
Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns already have their hands full against common enemies
Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns may be rivals, but they have a common enemy in The Bloodline. After Cody and Solo's match at the 2024 SummerSlam, The Original Tribal Chief began targeting his cousin, but the group managed to get the upper hand in the numbers game and attack Roman.
Since Cody and Roman already have their hands full with The Bloodline, Cody could also ask Roman for some help against Randy Orton as it will certainly be a handful and difficult for only one superstar.
Roman Reigns and Randy Orton have unsettled business in WWE
In 2022, Randy Orton was injured after enduring a post-match attack from Roman Reigns' Bloodline. The Viper lost 18 months of his career before making his grand return at last year's Survivor Series: WarGames. However, he has yet to have a proper feud with The Original Tribal Chief.
Roman and Randy may have clashed after the latter returned last year, but The Bloodline and Cody also got involved, which led to a four-way match at Royal Rumble with AJ Styles and LA Knight. After Rhodes is out of the picture, Orton and Reigns could clash without interference and will solely focus on them.
It could help elevate Randy Orton and Roman Reigns' new roles
Randy Orton as a heel has been popular among fans, but it's a character he hasn't played in a while. Meanwhile, many look forward to Roman as a face after playing an incredible heel for the past few years in WWE. Despite this, they still need to build the new roles will play, and they could help each other.
Randy's character as a heel could be seen as a larger threat, especially after losing to Gunther at Bash in Berlin, if WWE's two top stars needed to team with each other to take him down. Meanwhile, Roman's character as a good guy could be explored during a team-up with Cody Rhodes.
