Cody Rhodes finally addressed Kevin Owens on the latest episode of WWE SmackDown. The heated exchange between the superstars proved that their feud was one of the top creative angles in the Stamford-based promotion at the moment.
However, it's important to note that as perfect as the angle can be, there might be certain factors that do not align with the storyline. There is a similar issue with Kevin Owens vs. Cody Rhodes.
Kevin Owens' anger seems to be biased
The Prizefighter turned heel on Cody Rhodes because The American Nightmare teamed up with Roman Reigns against Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu at Bad Blood. KO couldn't accept that his friend would help the man who tormented and tortured him for years.
However, while Rhodes helped the OTC in one battle, Sami Zayn is going to war for Roman Reigns in another. Given that Zayn and KO are extremely close, possibly even more than Owens and The American Nightmare, it's rather shocking that he hasn't even acknowledged The Underdog From The Underground's reunion with Reigns. He seems to be focused only on what Cody Rhodes did.
Sami Zayn had betrayed Roman Reigns for Kevin Owens
At Royal Rumble 2023, the former Undisputed WWE Universal Champion had ordered 'Honorary Uce' Sami Zayn to take out Kevin Owens with a steel chair. However, Zayn turned on the former Bloodline leader that night, marking the first betrayal in The Bloodline.
Considering what Zayn did for KO, one might think that The Prizefighter would confront his former tag team partner about helping the OTC in any shape and form, especially after Sami himself tried to warn Jey Uso against reuniting with Roman Reigns.
Cody Rhodes did what a champion should do
As the Undisputed WWE Champion, what Cody Rhodes does has a huge impact on the rest of the roster. When he decided to help the OTC, it was because he knew Roman Reigns was beginning to walk his redemption arc. Also, The American Nightmare was in a feud with The Bloodline himself when Reigns returned to WWE at SummerSlam.
Sami Zayn initially just wanted to save Jey Uso from falling into Reigns' trap again but ended up joining the OTC and The Usos for Survivor Series WarGames. Zayn had no reason to make that choice, especially when he hadn't even closely seen how much the former Bloodline leader had changed, if at all, like possibly Rhodes had before teaming up with Roman.
Unfortunately, Owens seems to have no intention of addressing the issue and despite this rivalry between the Undisputed WWE Champion and KO is possibly one of the best things in the Stamford-based promotion right now, the Zayn matter does stick out like a sore thumb in this storyline.
