According to a recent injury update on WWE‘s official website, Fandango is set to undergo more tests prior to Sunday’s Payback pay-per-view event and his name has been removed from the match in the “interest of safety.”
It was later revealed on RAW that Curtis Axel will be replacing Fandango in the title match. Axel, who has made an interesting WWE return, was largely tipped to face Triple H. But an injury to Fandango has forced his replacement into the Intercontinental Title picture.
Fandango made a successful start in the WWE, picking up a win in his Wrestlemania debut against Chris Jericho. However, it is unfortunate that he will not be participating in Payback.
