Damian Priest might need to have his head on a swivel at WWE SummerSlam when he defends the World Heavyweight Championship against Gunther. The Judgment Day star has been moving toward a full babyface turn, which could ensue next Saturday (August 3).
Finn Balor has been by Damian Priest's side throughout their time in the Judgment Day, but he might be about to shock the world. The World Tag Team Champion has constantly played down suggestions of a rift in the group, but his latest vow may have been a red herring.
"Let’s wait till after SummerSlam and get out of this mess together," he told Priest and Rhea Ripley on WWE RAW tonight.
Finn Balor may plot a massive betrayal to cost Priest the World Heavyweight Championship at WWE SummerSlam. The duo have had issues, notably when the Irish star failed to beat Seth Rollins for the title last year.
Priest looks increasingly likely to turn babyface, and so does Ripley, given she's feuding with Liv Morgan. A new Judgment Day could emerge from Cleveland Browns Stadium at the Biggest Party of the Summer.
It wouldn't be the first time Balor has shockingly turned on an ally; he took out Johnny Gargano after returning to NXT five years ago. He has a proven track record of scheming and may have world title aspirations now.
Finn Balor has already suggested he won't be helping Damian Priest at WWE SummerSlam
During a backstage segment, Finn Balor delved into Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley's title matches at WWE SummerSlam. He told the World Heavyweight Champion and Mami that they would be going it alone in their respective matches.
That may hint at Balor orchestrating a newly formed Judgment Day not to help out Priest and Ripley. That faction could be in cahoots with Liv Morgan, further pushing the duo toward babyface turns.
Liv Morgan helped Balor and JD McDonagh become World Tag Team Champions. The Women's World Champion and the Irish star have been seen in the background of backstage interviews in discussion.
Priest looks set to go it alone against Gunther, who will unlikely have a backup if he feels he needs it. His Imperium right-hand man, Ludwig Kaiser, is sidelined with a rib injury.
Nevertheless, the World Heavyweight Championship match is one of the toughest to call on the WWE SummerSlam card. A Judgment Day implosion could end Priest's reign at 119 days.
