Damian Priest shocked the world when the RAW Superstar cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase at WrestleMania XL and became WWE World Heavyweight Champion. The Archer of Infamy celebrated the victory with his Judgment Day stablemates but their bond is proving to be somewhat of an issue.
The World Heavyweight Champion has started a feud with Jey Uso who he'll battle with his title on the line at Backlash France (May 4). The pair exchanged words to open this week's episode of RAW but Damian Priest ended up on the mat.
JD McDonagh attempted to attack Uso from behind but allowed Main Event Jey to hit a superkick on his Judgment Day colleague. The 41-year-old was left fuming and his frustrations grew when he encountered Dominik Mysterio and his new ally Santos Escobar backstage.

Damian Priest will be eager to keep hold of his World Heavyweight Championship and many need to part ways with his faction to do so. They have become more of a hindrance each week on RAW than a benefit for The Punisher.
Damian Priest should focus on his title run on WWE RAW
Damian Priest is now seemingly the leader of The Judgment Day with Rhea Ripley set for months on the sidelines. He'll be tasked with keeping JD McDonagh, Dominik Mysterio, and his former tag team partner Finn Balor in check.
However, Ripley managed to keep the peace when trouble brewed within the group. Priest may struggle to do so given he's previously clashed with Balor and has been irritated by McDonagh's clumsy ambush attempts.
The Puerto Rican superstar must concentrate on his title and Judgment Day serves as a distraction. He can also prove to fans and the WWE roster that he belongs in the main event picture by going it alone.
The World Heavyweight Champion should be wary of Finn Balor
Finn Balor has announced that he has extended his stay with WWE which suggests he's in Paul Levesque's creative plans moving forward. The former WWE Universal Champion has excelled with The Judgment Day but hasn't quite reached the heights expected as a singles star.
Thus, the Demon King might be feeling a sense of jealousy watching Damian Priest lead their faction and hold the gold. He could look to use his connection with his former tag team partner whom he held the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship.
The duo have had a frosty relationship in the past and could come to loggerheads if tension boils over with Rhea Ripley absent. Priest also teased a potential babyface turn on RAW during his back-and-forth with Jey Uso.
Damian Priest needs to solidify himself as a main eventer
The Judgment Day as a collective act has been one of WWE's most popular factions in recent years. They have intrigued fans with their on-screen bond which has helped propel most, if not all of their careers individually.
That said, Damian Priest has still yet to connect with the audience as a singles star on RAW. He has the look and the presence of a megastar but his continued run with a stable means he's yet to break out and display his champion credentials.
Priest's stock is high and he's been lauded by several of his past and present co-workers. Kevin Sullivan, who worked with him in Ring of Honor, feels WWE is just getting started with the Puerto Rican:
"He’s very, very smart business-wise. He’s got a great personality. He works very hard and he trained very hard to become a wrestler. He deserves this, but I think they’re just scratching the surface with him. I’m looking forward to watching his work progress." [H/T 411MANIA].
It's safe to say that Damian Priest has Paul Levesque's trust and it's time for him to fly solo to prove his worth. A dominant win against fellow RAW Superstar Jey Uso at Backlash without Judgment Day could be the start of a stellar championship reign.
