Elimination Chamber was not particularly a great PPV but it had two great matches and those two matches had quite a steady build up to this PPV. While the Wyatts and the Shield gave a near perfect demonstration of how to work some drama and action together and easily walked away with the match of the night, the veterans inside the Elimination Chamber showed that they’ve not lost it.
Sheamus, Christian and Cesaro had some great moments before being eliminated in that exact same order. John Cena and Daniel Bryan were left screwed and Randy Orton, to the utter despise from the arena and arguably fans across the world, came out as the winner. AGAIN.
This all but guarantees that the supernova that is the Yes Movement will continue and hence Daniel Bryan will win at Wrestlemania. He needs to get his retribution at the grandest stage of them all. And come the night after Wrestlemania on Raw, he should look like a winner with newer challenges to look forward to and no hangups to the turmoil called the Authority. At Wrestlemania the Authority’s reign of terror will see a decline. Wrestlemania has mostly always been about happy endings.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
So the question is will Daniel Bryan squaring off against Triple H pay off better or Daniel Bryan winning the championships for sure be the bigger payoff?
So far the build-up and anticipation for Batista and Randy Orton in the main event of WM sucks. If Batista turns heel then why would a heel versus heel dynamic prevail at a Wrestlemania main event? Right now, the fans are not convinced with Batista’s push. The Minneapolis crowd created a new chant- Bootista…Bootista.
The main event at Wrestlemania needs to be worked upon more. If WWE continues their My-Way-Or-The-Highway tactics in this scenario, that will surely cost them immediately or in the long run atleast.
So, here is the solution- get Bryan into the main event. Let him win the titles from Randy Orton and defeat Batista in spectacular fashion and give the man of the Yes Movement his Wrestlemania moment. The Raw after Wrestlemania which has been more entertaining than the actual Wrestlemania lately, should establish Daniel Bryan as the new champion and hence guarantee a longer reign than his previous blink and miss reigns.
Since Batista returned in January the only major positive reaction he got was his first ever entrance following his return. It was all downhill from there with Batista repeating the same old, same old sentences used so often by so many in their promos. Then came his exchanges with Del Rio, who hasn’t really clicked as a great promo worker and hence has had quite inconsistent feedback from the WWE Universe. Engaging these two in Batista’s first rivalry after his return was quite possibly a decision to get Batista easy babyface reactions. But the entire plan backfired after Batista eventually went on to win the Royal Rumble after being inside the ring for one of the shortest span of time and not doing anything memorable until the very end. And add Daniel Bryan’s absence in the Rumble match and there you have it- a recipe for disaster!
His exchanges with revolting fans haven’t exactly been babyface material. He flipped off the Rumble audience and didn’t have any favourable exchange with the Minneapolis crowd at Elimination Chamber who chanted the very unique ‘BOOtista’ chant. He did not look intimidating at all. He infact looked quite rusty. Del Rio’s masked attack was probably done to hide that rust.
And then there was Del Rio who hasn’t been over with the crowd consistently since a great double turn at Payback against Ziggler. He got the most positive reaction. Most of that reaction can be attributed to the audience’s dissatisfaction and disappointment at Batista’s return.
Now, how are we supposed to take Orton versus Batista seriously when there is absolutely no trinklet of excitement for their individual characters?
Hence, get Bryan in the title picture and let him win.
This will be the best thing to do for the fans and Daniel Bryan and hence ‘best for business’. The Yes movement is showing no signs of dying down and it has only gotten better since Summerslam. Let it reach its crescendo at Wrestlemania.
