LA Knight finally confronted Roman Reigns on SmackDown this week. The Megastar and The Tribal Chief came face-to-face in a segment that also involved John Cena, Paul Heyman, and Solo Sikoa. Knight made a major reference to his five-year-old gimmick during the segment as well.
For those who may have missed, LA Knight delivered a major call-back to his IMPACT Wrestling days. The 40-year-old star said he would drop Roman Reigns and use him as a mop, which was one of his catchphrases in IMPACT Wrestling.
Apparently, this was Knight trying to get back at Roman Reigns for asking him what he was doing in his ring and not a tease that he was bringing back his old gimmick. The real-life Shaun Ricker has said during interviews that he will only use past catchphrases if they organically fit in with his promos on WWE television.
Knight was attacked by Jimmy Uso before he got to complete his verbal beatdown on Roman Reigns. However, he managed to overcome the former Undisputed Tag Team Champion soon. Paul Heyman asked his Tribal Chief to leave the ring. Reigns told Solo Sikoa to take care of Knight for him.
This angle led to the main event match between the Enforcer and the Megastar on SmackDown.
What happened after LA Knight beat Solo Sikoa on SmackDown?
LA Knight and Solo Sikoa filled the main event scene with incredible excitement and drama on SmackDown tonight. The pair exhibited a tough contest. Jimmy Uso also tried to interfere, but he was taken out by John Cena.
The distraction allowed Knight to take out Sikoa with his BFT finisher. However, Roman Reigns showed up out of nowhere to take out the Megastar. The show ended with The Tribal Chief standing tall over a fallen Knight.
It remains to be seen if fans will get a title match between the two superstars at Crown Jewel 2023.
