It was one of the most anticipated returns, when Paige came back after a hiatus of more than a year, but no one expected her to return as a leader of a faction. She introduced two NXT rookies Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose to the main roster and laid waste to the entire women's roster on Raw.
On the next episode of Raw, Paige named her faction as Absolution and continued to beat down the women from Raw in the upcoming weeks. However, last week Absolution got attacked by every female member of the locker room. Even the heels participated in that beat-down.
But what is the advantage to be in a faction? Where does a faction thrive?
In the "Number Games". We always hear Micheal Cole using this specific term. Whenever a faction attacks a fellow superstar, you can beat any monster, myth or legend if you have numbers on your side, as it was clearly evident when someone like Asuka was getting beat up this week when Absolution had the numbers advantage.
The retribution though came earlier than expected. Absolution lost their numbers leverage as it became eight vs three and the group had to retreat.
So, what's next? How are they going to survive when the faces and heels are working together? Do they need another member in the group?
Yes, they do and from the looks of it, they may get one. But the group does not need another rookie, they need an established name from the main roster or NXT.
Imagine if someone like Nia Jax joins Absolution. It will be a big OMG! Moment, and will shift the momentum in Absolution's favor. The motivation can be very simple for Nia to join the faction, as she has never won any title on the main roster, or in NXT and the desire of it can be the reason.
Bayley, who is not getting anything substantial to work with on the main roster, can also join the group instead of Nia Jax. She is one of the Horsewomen, so it will create an enormous impact. We have seen some conflict between Sasha and Bayley here and there and that can be Bayley's motivation.
Paige should remain the leader, even if some big names join the group. Whether it is Bayley or Nia, either can play the second fiddle in the group behind Paige, as on the mic, they are not on the same level as Paige. It will make the fight between the women of Raw and the ladies of Absolution much more balanced and intriguing.
