Dolph Ziggler on Tyler Breeze, turning heel and more

‘The Show-Off’ Dolph Ziggler

– Dolph Ziggler has wrapped up his feud with Rusev in the past few weeks. The former Heavyweight Champion looks set to feud with Tyler Breeze, NXT’s latest export. Breeze made an appearance on Smackdown last week, interrupting Ziggler and attacked him with his selfie stick.

It will be interesting to see Breeze and Ziggler who have somewhat similar gimmicks go against each other. Ziggler spoke to The Phoenix Times while promoting Smackdown about Tyler Breeze, heel turn and more. The in-depth interview can be found at this link.

On his upcoming feud with Tyler Breeze

Tyler Breeze is an extremely talented wrestler just like Dolph. Their feud will be interesting in terms of the sheer wrestling talent inside the ring. Ziggler said that he is up for any challenge.

He does not give up whatsoever and relishes these opportunities. Ziggler also added that Breeze may be faster and younger, but that won't count as he looks forward to new challenges.

He praised Breeze about being level headed and that a feud with him would be an amazing start for his career on the main roster.

"He used to pick my brain, actually. So I gave him a couple pointers and I hope he can hang in the ring with me, and if he can, he’ll be on his way to a hell of a start."

On having a similar gimmick

When Dolph was asked about having a similar gimmick of a young, handsome guy, he rubbished it and said that there is a lot of difference. He said that he doesn't do anything that is closely related to being gorgeous or model-like.

He adds that he is the one who gets up every time after getting beaten up a lot, and wins the match.

"Mine is just 'a guy who doesn’t stop getting beat up’ til he tries to win a match.' So I don’t really have a gorgeous guy thing. I just happen to be around a couple of girls all the time at work."

On his heel turn

Ziggler stated that the heel turn is not happening until his program with Breeze is finished. He also added that there are a lot of surprises every week, so predicting it is impossible.

"Every Monday, something new happens, something special happens. You never know what’s going to happen. That’s the cool thing about the wrestling business."

On the nature of his half pushes

Dolph stated that everything about the business is what motivates him to work harder. He gave examples about the Survivor Series, being a champion or losing the title and said that the whole business is about various ups and downs.

He added that the most important thing is being the best at what you do and striving for the opportunities that come your way.

"And when you know you’re as good as I am, you know it's going work out one way or the other. The cream rises to the top. If you’re good, you’re good, and you’re going to be."
