What's the story?

Remember a while ago when all of the wrestling news sites were reporting on how much Dolph Ziggler's new deal with the WWE was worth after his contract allegedly ran out?

It turns out that Ziggler hasn't actually signed a new deal, or at least that's what he himself is saying.

In case you didn't know...

At one point it was being reported by Justin Barasso from Sports Illustrated that Ziggler's alleged new contract with the WWE was going to pay him $1.5 million a year making him one of the highest paid wrestlers in the company.

The heart of the matter

However, The Showoff himself has thrown a spanner in the works during a recent interview with Fox Sports by indicating that contrary to popular belief and all of the various reports that he has in fact not yet signed a new deal with the WWE.

"I would love to get into that more but based on the internet, they told you I'd re-signed and I have not."

This does however beg the question of if Ziggler hasn't signed a new deal with the WWE then he is still currently out of contract, so how or why is he still making appearances for the company?

What's next?

Despite being rumored to be facing Shane McMahon in his first ever singles match at WrestleMania, Ziggler will instead be one of the competitors trying to win the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal on the WrestleMania pre-show.

Author's take

Ziggler's storyline doesn't make too much sense, he gave up the United States title because he was sick of being disrespected, returned in the 30th spot in the Royal Rumble and was eliminated straight away.

He wanted a singles match at 'Mania but then entered himself into the Andre the Giant Battle Royal making him worse off than he started.

Still, I've always been a fan of The Showoff and hope he'll one day be a world champion again.
