Dominik Mysterio and CM Punk receive different reactions from WWE fans every time they appear. The former mainly gets booed, while the latter receives cheers and praise. However, the roles were reversed over a decade ago, and it can soon come back to haunt The Voice of the Voiceless.
On a 2010 SmackDown episode, Rey Mysterio and the rest of his family celebrated his daughter's birthday, Aalyah, inside the ring. However, this moment was ruined by CM Punk, who was feuding with the Hall of Famer and criticized Rey in front of his family by calling him a coward. While Rey may have moved on from this moment more than 14 years ago, Dominik Mysterio might have other takeaways from it.
Dominik and Punk can meet again soon on WWE television and the former can recall the 2010 segment. Mysterio can say that due to Punk's words, he wasn't able to trust his father again to protect the family and has since viewed him as a loser, leading to the eventual strain in their relationship.

Dominik and Punk have already begun their rivalry in WWE. Since the latter returned to the company in 2023, they have exchanged words on social media and talked ill of each other in interviews. Mysterio was even the first person Punk faced after he returned.
What does Dominik Mysterio have to say about CM Punk's actions over 14 years ago?
Dominik Mysterio may not have the best relationship with his family now, but that doesn't mean he has already forgotten and forgiven The Voice of the Voiceless for his actions more than a decade ago.
While talking with Adam Barnard on Fountain Radio, Dominik recalled that 14 years ago, The Best in the World thought he was the big man by wishing Aalyah a happy birthday and insulting his family. Now that The Judgment Day member is grown, he wants to wrestle the RAW star.
"First of all, last I was in the ring with CM Punk, I was 11 years old, and he thought he was a big man, singing happy birthday to my loser sister. But anyways, I’d like to see him now. I was my dad’s height [back then]. So now I’m 6’1, 200 pounds. I’ve seen him wrestle, CM Punk, so let’s see what you got, old man."
It will be interesting to see how the rivalry between Dominik Mysterio and CM Punk will progress.
