Drew McIntyre made the right decision to "quit" WWE RAW

Clash at the Castle did not go as Drew McIntyre had planned. Despite performing in front of his home crowd in Scotland, The Scottish Warrior failed to win the World Heavyweight Championship. The reason for this comes down to one man and one man only: CM Punk.

For weeks now, Punk has haunted Drew McIntyre, and Clash at the Castle was seemingly the last straw. After falling to capture the World Heavyweight Title, McIntyre quit WWE. A brash and emotional decision, but one that, at the end of the day, may have been right.

It's important to note that Drew McIntyre did not specifically say that he was quitting WWE. The Scotsman's words could mean anything. In this case, perhaps he is quitting WWE RAW, and that, for the following reasons, could just be the correct decision.

Drew McIntyre needs to be as far away from CM Punk as possible

It's clear that Drew McIntyre's biggest problem right now is CM Punk. The Voice of the Voiceless has cost him three times now. The first was at WrestleMania 40, the second was on the RAW after WrestleMania, and the third was at Clash at the Castle. Punk has been a thorn in McIntyre's side for a while now. Hence, the Scotsman should stay away from the former WWE Champion.

New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE

Quitting WWE RAW is the best way for McIntyre to stay away from Punk. If the Scotsman stays away from the red brand, it's highly unlikely that The Best in the World will target him. That said, The Scottish Warrior can look for a fresh start.

McIntyre can work on Friday nights with a fresh start on SmackDown

Drew McIntyre does not need to leave WWE entirely. As mentioned earlier, his biggest problem, CM Punk, is on Monday Night RAW. So, instead of taking his talents outside of the Stamford-based promotion, he can simply switch brands. While Adam Pearce would no doubt be devastated, Nick Aldis would be more than happy to bring The Scottish Warrior on board for a fresh start on SmackDown.

A move to the blue brand could be just what McIntyre needs. While the duo may still be in the same company, Punk would be contracted to a different brand. This would make it significantly difficult for him to interfere with McIntyre's career. With that in mind, a trade may be on the horizon that could see the Scotsman make the switch.

Cody Rhodes could find his next big challenger in McIntyre

Cody Rhodes has been sensational since he became the Undisputed WWE Champion. However, his reign has received much criticism due to the lack of competition. Since capturing the title, The American Nightmare has faced Logan Paul and AJ Styles. Outside those two, the superstars who pose a serious threat to Rhodes are limited. Throwing Drew McIntyre into the mix could change that.

Seeing The Scottish Warrior take on The American Nightmare would undoubtedly be exciting. It would introduce a new dynamic to Rhodes' reign, and add one more challenger to a list that only includes Paul and Styles.

However, at the end of the day, this is just speculation. There is no telling whether McIntyre has only quit RAW, or actually decided to leave the company altogether.
