Drew McIntyre and CM Punk will collide at WWE SummerSlam in six days after being involved in an intense feud throughout the year. The match will feature Seth Rollins as the Special Guest Referee.
Punk has cost McIntyre the World Heavyweight Championship on three different occasions this year, so The Scottish Warrior may take a huge measure to avoid being embarrassed at The Biggest Party of the Summer. He could bring Sheamus, Wade Barrett, and William Regal as backup to announce the arrival of a new faction in WWE.
Sheamus and McIntyre have been friends for over 20 years, so The Celtic Warrior would be willing to help The Scottish Warrior. Both men have teamed up in the past as well.
On the other hand, Wade Barrett is also a close friend of McIntyre and expressed his frustration about Punk's tactics in the past. Therefore, the former Intercontinental Champion helping McIntyre is also possible.
WWE could add William Regal as the trio's manager because a legendary name like him would be fitting for the role. McIntyre, Sheamus, and Barrett love to fight, so Regal being their mentor would be a logical decision as he has experience from the time he managed the Blackpool Combat Club in AEW.
The 56-year-old veteran has been focused on his role behind the scenes, so managing such a huge faction would be a great way to bring him back on television.
The faction debuting at SummerSlam to decimate Punk would be a huge surprise, but anything is possible in Triple H's WWE. However, the Stamford-based promotion may try to keep it a one-on-one feud between McIntyre and Punk for the time being.
Wade Barrett showed support for Drew McIntyre at WWE Money in the Bank
Drew McIntyre won the 2024 Men's Money in the Bank Ladder match and tried to cash in his contract on the same night. However, CM Punk showed up once again to cost him the World Heavyweight Championship.
The Scottish Warrior lost control and crashed the Money in the Bank post-show. He attacked RAW General Manager Adam Pearce and Wade Barrett had to intervene to bring the situation under control.
During the post-show, Barrett said that his thoughts are with McIntyre and also revealed that he was reprimanded and fined for airing his grievances with Punk after The Best in the World's appearance at Clash at the Castle.
"Listen, you know my thoughts. I am gonna say no more on this entire subject. [Big] E, you gotta put in some leg work because I am staying silent. I have my reprimand, I have my fine. I'm done on this particular subject. My thoughts are with one person, that's Drew McIntyre."
McIntyre vs. Punk at SummerSlam will be The Best in the World's first televised singles match in WWE in 10 years.
