The most recent installment in the Fast and Furious series, Fast X, debuted in cinemas on May 19, with a surprise post-credit scene featuring Dwayne Johnson.
Many of the former cast members returned to the screen once more, including WWE icon John Cena, who resumed his role as Vin Diesel's younger brother, Jakob Toretto. The Rock's appearance in the film has shocked fans around the world, as it was known that he and Vin Diesel were not on good terms in the past.
Johnson first joined the franchise in 2011's Fast Five as Luke Hobbs and continued to return for the 6th, 7th, and 8th movies. However, after the filming of The Fate of the Furious in 2016, the Rock created an Instagram post that referred to one of his castmates as a "candy a**." It was quickly deleted as rumors swirled around that his post was aimed at Vin Diesel.
The Rock seemed to exit the main franchise and starred in his own spin-off movie, Hobbs & Shaw. In 2021, Vin Diesel posted publicly, trying to convince Dwayne Johnson to resume his role in the main franchise. However, this did not seem to go over well with The Rock, as he accused Diesel of manipulation by mentioning Paul Walker and his children. He declined the offer, stating that the two had already reached an agreement in private.

Despite publicly declaring he won't be a part of the franchise anymore, Dwayne Johnson was seen in the post-credit scene as Luke Hobbs once again. It is most likely that his character must play a huge role in the Fast & Furious finale, which all begins with the Fast X movie. His return also suggests that the feud between the two mega stars has come to an end, though it has not been confirmed.
Fans react to Dwayne Johnson's appearance in Fast X
Fast X debuted with $67.5 million in ticket sales across North American theaters according to Universal Pictures. In total, the movie has earned over $300 million in its opening weekend. It is the second biggest opening of the year, following the Mario movie.
The star-studded line-up definitely makes Fast X one of the most eagerly-awaited movies of this year. Now that it is showing worldwide, fans have shared their opinions on Dwayne Johnson's return on social media. Many also mentioned theories on The Rock's return, with one fan commenting that his poor performance in Black Adam has forced him to come back to the Fast & Furious franchise.
