After months and months of buildup, the thirtieth anniversary edition of WrestleMania finally started taking shape in the historic Raw which followed the Elimination Chamber. Burdened with the same which came from the chamber, the creative had a lot to put forward for WrestleMania and they wasted no time in doing so.
Hulk Hogan, Undertaker and Brock Lesnar made big returns while some sunshine finally reached the mid card wrestlers as well.
However, there were a lot of concerns left unanswered by the WWE creative leaving them in the spotlight again for all the wrong reasons. The lack of direction that Daniel Bryan has and the failure of Batista to stir up heat among the fans are currently working against them and needs to be sorted out.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Meanwhile the rise of younger talents like Bray Wyatt, Cesaro and Roman Reigns balances the situation making it a desperate situation to pull off a WrestleMania which makes everyone look good.
So from what we saw till now, let’s take a look at how the match card for WrestleMania could be shaped up by the WWE.
AJ Lee vs. Tamina (Divas Championship)
The friction between AJ and Tamina took the centre stage at Elimination Chamber when Tamina cost AJ her match against Cameron.
Thought the title was still in AJ’s hand, she didn’t seem happy with what went down and it clearly indicates that the company is building up a potential clash between these two. A match between these two divas is a must for the WrestleMania as well since AJ has no one left in the roster to defend her title against.
Having a split up storyline will give the Diva’s division something to cheer about as it won’t be any other random match put together by the writers. Unpredictability factor also makes this one worth booking just to give AJ the WrestleMania time that she deserves.
Big E vs. Titus O’Neil (Intercontinental Championship)
With his newly found heel form, Titus O’Neil is bound to go places. The win against Darren Young at Elimination Chamber was only a start of things.
The writers will be keen to push in Titus into the title picture soon and Langston is the one with the target painted on his back. Since he doesn’t have a credible opponent as well for WrestleMania apart from everyone he has already faced, it wouldn’t be a surprise if this match materializes.
Once it happens, both men could easily dwell into the opportunity and give their best to make the moment worth remembering.
Cesaro (with Zeb Colter) vs. Jack Swagger
Another breakup storyline brewing in the background, the Real Americans started showing cracks ever since the fans started cheering for Cesaro. Colter has been getting in the face of Swagger for so long now and some argument was also sparked between Swagger and Cesaro recently.
The breaking up is eminent for Cesaro since he is stuck at the wrong end of the roster. Having Zeb Colter align with him as a face manger will work as a nice touch as Cesaro will benefit a lot from Colter’s microphone skills.
Swagger might be back into the mid card as a heel after this one but for making Cesaro a top star of the future, this match has to happen at WrestleMania. Thus the fans who wanted a Cody Rhodes vs. Goldust match will be treated with something better from the tag division leaving the stage for the tag title defense.
Rhodes Brothers vs. Usos vs. the New Age Outlaws (Tag Team Championship)
Rhodes Brothers and the Usos have been projected as equally worth contenders for the title by the WWE. Both the teams were given a momentum boost after Elimination Chamber to go with it making this match a clear possibility.
The New Age Outlaws could end their short run as Champions with this match and give the Usos a title reign that they deserve. Other tag teams like Rybaxel and Wyatt Family could also be included into the tussle if they decide to make the match more chaotic.
But no matter how many teams are pushed in, the Usos are going to walk out of WrestleMania as the champions. The anticipated Rhodes Brother storyline could also kick start with this one giving it multiple dimensions.
Sheamus vs. Christian
The chemistry that these two produced in their matches was a big surprise for most of the WWE fans. A well-timed heel turn of Christian also paved way for making this feud happen and by the looks of it they will once again lock horns at the granddaddy of them all.
Writers could easily work out a great feud between the two in the limited time and trust upon them to produce a WrestleMania quality match like they delivered last week.
This will keep both the Wrestlers busy till the end of WrestleMania as well leaving them a chance to reenter the main event scene once all the part timers go out.
John Cena vs. Bray Wyatt
Arguably the highest point of Bray Wyatt’s family if it happens, this match is going to be an epic at various proportions. The buildup will be more exciting than the match itself as one can only imagine how spectacular it will be when Cena and Bray start the war of words.
They could also work out an exciting match similar to the ones each men have had in the past giving us glimpses that Bray doesn’t only thrive with his gimmick.
It could be one of the pass the torch moments of WrestleMania as Bray could find himself being the guy who beat John Cena at WrestleMania.
Dean Ambrose vs. Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins
The only reason why this one is a triple threat match instead of a handicap match is because of the darkness which prevails over Seth Rollins. Arguably the best technician in the stable, Rollins is yet to show signs of any alignment making it an interesting situation.
Place and time of their breakup also needs to be set if this match is to happen. But once it happens the only name we are going to hear is Roman Reigns.
Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose would need to eat their hearts out to stay relevant after this one which leaves the door open for changes.
Randy Orton vs. Batista (WWE World Heavyweight title)
As stale as it could get, this year’s main event would be crucified by the fans without any doubts as Orton and Batista struggle to get over with the fans desperately.
The company in their own desperation even started to make Batista look like a heel which further complicates the match. Both Orton and Batista have no idea what they are stuck with as no one wanted this match to headline WrestleMania.
If this match bombs, the WWE will learn their lesson for sure that they need to think thrice before giving a part timer such a big push no matter how popular he is.
Triple H vs. Daniel Bryan
The Authority vs. the fan favorite match was one of the back bones of the company back in the hard days. And this year also the company will be in an effort to replicated history.
It was built up back from the Summer Slam itself and CM Punk’s departure further stamped this one. Bryan has place his challenge for the COO and it will only be a matter of time before The Game accepts the challenge.
To make the fans happy, the company also needs to place this one above the title match since Daniel Bryan is the only thing that the fans want to see at the WrestleMania main event apart from The Undertaker himself.
The Undertaker vs. Brock Lesnar
The match was made official last week on Raw and though it doesn’t have any credible storyline to boast about, two big names like this and the prestige of the streak itself will be enough for the WWE fans to enjoy this bout.
Taker’s physical condition is a concern however as there are doubts to whether he will be able to pull of another classic like he always do. Paul Heyman would be a great positive for the whole feud and all this makes this one the best from the lot.
Lesnar could work well as the new victim of Taker and the dead man can go into another year long break in peace while plotting for his next opponent.
Though the card doesn’t make one drool like the previous year ones, it could still pop out with many surprises and the WWE might end up having the final smile.
