What’s the story?
WWE Hall of Famer Edge recently took part in a recent episode of E&C’s Pod of Awesomeness and spoke of possibly coming out of retirement, as Daniel Bryan just has.
In case you didn’t know…
After a 19-year career, Edge retired in 2011 due to being diagnosed with cervical spinal stenosis, and doctors would not clear him to compete, for risk of neck-down paralysis or even death should he take a hard enough fall.

Edge said he knew something like this would eventually happen and that he had been wrestling on borrowed time, after breaking his neck in 2003.
The Rated R Superstar had his last televised match with Alberto Del Rio at WrestleMania 27.
The heart of the matter
During a recent Q & A session on E&C’s Pod of Awesomeness, Edge was asked about the possibility of wrestling one more match, with the fan who asked referring to Daniel Bryan coming out of retirement earlier this week. Edge commented saying:
“I got inundated, man. I got the ‘well, he’s back, so you can come back, right?’ I was like ‘oh my god, we’re going to go into this again.’ … I will once again and for the last time say this: I greatly appreciate that people would like to see me have one more match, or come back, or Daniel Bryan got cleared so why can’t you. I will never be cleared."
Mine is a completely different injury. He had neck issues but it wasn’t his neck issues that retired him initially, it was the concussion issues. I never had concussion issues. What I have is cervical spinal stenosis. Look it up. I have stupid neck, just look it up. You can look up ‘stupid neck’ and it will probably be a picture of my neck. Just do me a favor, look it up, and you then you will realize that the WWE will never medically clear me to compete again. And I appreciate it but that’s all there is to that.”
What’s next?
Edge and Christian will be inducting the Dudley Boyz into the WWE Hall of Fame on April 6, in New Orleans during the WrestleMania weekend.
Edge will also be appearing at the Wrestlecon convention that same weekend.
Author’s take
The Rated R Superstar was very blunt with his answer, and who could blame him, he gets asked this all the time.
Edge is finished as a wrestler, has been for seven years now. Hopefully, fans will stop pestering him about it.
