Asuka was scheduled to compete at Elimination Chamber 2021, defending the WWE RAW Women's Championship against Lacey Evans. Following the announcement of her pregnancy, which is not a 'work', it does seem like the match has been shelved for now. In such a scenario, it makes sense for her to clash against Charlotte Flair, the only other real challenger at the required level.
Female superstar says she inspired John Cena turning heel HERE
It doesn't make sense for both of these women to remain babyfaces in such a scenario, especially if you consider how tensions have built up between them.
It was Charlotte Flair losing control, infuriated by the growing closeness between her father, Ric Flair and Lacey Evans, that led to the Elimination Chamber 2021 match anyway. It makes all the sense in the world for Asuka to turn on Charlotte Flair, who hasn't really been the model tag team partner at Elimination Chamber 2021. Because we've only seen her as a comedy character recently, this may be a fresh coat of paint.
