At WrestleMania 39, Cody Rhodes faced Roman Reigns in the main event for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. While many believed this was Rhodes' moment to win his first world title in the company, they were wrong, as Reigns ended up retaining his title.
Since then, The Tribal Chief has been an unstoppable force. Despite many attempts, none have succeeded in defeating Roman Reigns. However, reports of a potential match between Reigns and The Rock at WrestleMania 40 gave fans hope of seeing the former defeated for the first time in nearly three years.
However, the match between the two Samoan family members seems to be in jeopardy due to a recent development. After 118 days of protest, SAG-AFTRA and Hollywood Studios have reached an agreement to mark the end of the actor's strike. This means The Rock would be caught up with projects again.
Hence, there is a huge chance that The People's Champ might not face Roman Reigns at the biggest event in WWE. However, it is possible that the latter defends his title against Cody Rhodes at the PLE, and The American Nightmare finally has another shot at finishing the story.
WWE's reported stance on LA Knight facing Roman Reigns at WrestleMania
At the recently concluded Crown Jewel, LA Knight put up a brilliant performance against Roman Reigns in the main event. Yet, this performance was not enough, as Reigns comfortably retained his title. However, given his performance, many believed Knight must face The Tribal Chief at WrestleMania 40.
After all, The Megastar is one of the most popular wrestlers on the roster, and it's only natural for fans to rally behind him despite his loss at Crown Jewel. While the support Knight is receiving is great to see, it seems the Stamford-based promotion has no interest in a match between Reigns and Knight at WrestleMania.
As per a recent report, WWE has no intentions of booking a match between Roman Reigns and LA Knight for the main event of WrestleMania 40. The report added that the aftermath of Crown Jewel 2023 would determine Knight's place on the card of wrestling's greatest event.
Given Knight won't face The Tribal Chief at the mega event, it would be interesting to see whom he feuds with next. Over the last few months, the 40-year-old has amassed popularity, and WWE would not want to waste the same.
