Errors from last year's Wrestlemania that WWE shouldn't repeat in Wrestlemania 35

Wrestlemania! The Grandest Stage of them all! Biggest Show of the Year! WWE's Greatest Platform! This show has got many names and rightly so because it is one night when good wrestlers become great, great wrestlers become best and the best wrestlers become immortals.

Wrestlemania 35's card is shaping up very well. The matches look really good with the blend of nostalgia and young blood. Everything from storylines to match-ups sounds amazing on paper. But, we said all those things about last year's Wrestlemania as well.

It had Daniel Bryan's return, a shocking heel turn, great women's matches, memorable debuts, and a squash match between John Cena and the Undertaker, yet something felt missing. No show can be perfect as fans would still ask for more but what management can do is try to rectify the mistakes that they previously made to raise the bar.

Let's look at some of the mistakes WWE made last year, which they shouldn't repeat this year

#1 The Main Event Result That One Wants

The main event of Wrestlemania 34
The main event of Wrestlemania 34

As stated earlier, Wrestlemania 34 was one of the best Wrestlemania in recent history. Everything from in-ring performances to comedy segments was well balanced for most of the show. But, the Universal Championship spoiled everything. All the hard work that wrestlers like Seth Rollins, Ronda Rousey, Charlotte Flair, Nicholas, and Daniel Bryan had put on that evening was ruined because the last picture that audience saw before the show went off-air was Braun Strowman holding the Universal Championship.

There were other great matches that could have headlined the show. The audience was booing both Roman Reigns and Lesnar throughout the match, which clearly showed that they would have taken literally any match over this lacklustre performance. This year, WWE has gold in their hand. They finally have a main eventer who is chosen by the people and the fans have been rooting for her to defeat Ronda Rousey ever since the rumour started doing the rounds about their match.

All they have to do is let Becky Lynch win the triple threat women's championship and let fans get the ending that they have been dying to see since 2014. This sounds really predictable, but sometimes predictability is what we need, like the ending of Wrestlemania 30.

Or they could just give the Raw Women's championship to Charlotte Flair like they are predicting in their twitter handle and I will then wait for the fans' outrage in the social media.

#2 Brock Lesnar Retaining the Universal Championship

Speaking of WWE ruining their biggest show of the year with just one match, letting Brock retain the Universal Championship at last year's Wrestlemania was one of the more controversial decisions the management has ever taken. The fans were already tired of the lacklustre reign and just want to see the championship back on Raw.

Roman Reigns' victory wouldn't have satisfied crowd either, but at least it would have saved them from Brock Lesnar getting over other talents one after the other. Giving Roman a win at Summerslam did not make any sense either, because he was still getting booed out of the building and; people had stopped caring for the Universal title altogether, because of its regular absence from the show.

This year, Seth Rollins is challenging Brock for the championship. He is already a crowd favourite and the face of Raw. All the fans are rallying behind him to slay the beast. The only thing that Vince has to do now is to not offer Brock any more money to keep the title for another year.

#3 Illogical Title Changes

Last year, a total of six titles changed hands, that being Raw Women's Championship, Cruiserweight Championship, United States Championship, Intercontinental Championship, Raw and Smackdown tag team championship. Out of those six, only Nia Jax, Seth Rollins, and Cedric Alexander's victory seemed like the logical outcome.

The Bludgeon Brothers' reign never felt threatening, Jinder Mahal just lost the United States Championship to Jeff Hardy a week later on Raw, and Braun Strowman and Nicholas dropped their title a day later because the former could not have missed his school.

There are many different things that WWE could do to make the show much more entertaining and memorable. Wrestlemania is arguably the biggest annual show of the wrestling industry, but the management does not have to go around changing the title holders to show the show's impact. A change of titleholder should reflect something and should only be done with a long-term plan.

Samoa Joe has just won the US championship, so let him just retain the title as he has finally started feeling a strong guy that he claims to be in his promos. Even Sasha Banks and Bayley are doing a fine job with the Women's tag team championship.

#4 Pushing the Cruiserweight Match to the Pre-show

Cedric Alexander VS Mustafa Ali

Last year's cruiserweight championship match was arguably the best match of the entire card. The athletic ability shown by Mustafa Ali and Cedric Alexander was unmatched throughout the night and their storytelling prowess was at its best, but still, they do not get the respect that they deserve.

Matches in the pre-show are often gets crammed because of the discussion panels, and thus not get the audience that the main card matches get. Buddy Murphy has been giving everything he has got to keep the division relevant and to get more fans, but the booking like this is hindering his plans.

Right now, 205 Live is WWE's least watched show. But that attitude is only going to change if the management would give them a chance to shine on the main show. The opening match between Buddy Murphy and Tony Nese can hype the whole crowd for the rest of the show.
