At WWE Survivor Series 2016, the company brought back the concept of the brand wars. The entire pay-per-view focused on Interbrand matches between RAW and SmackDown Superstars. The first match saw RAW Women's team (Charlotte, Nia Jax, Bayley, Alicia Fox, and Sasha Banks) defeat Team SmackDown (Carmella, Becky Lynch, Natalya, Alexa Bliss, and Naomi).

Next, the WWE Intercontinental title was on the line, as SmackDown Superstar The Miz took on RAW's Sami Zayn. In the end, The Miz retained his belt. A 10-Team Traditional Survivor Series Elimination match took place next. In the end, RAW's Sheamus and Cesaro emerged victorious and were the sole survivors. RAW Superstar The Brian Kendrick defeated SmackDown's Kalisto to retain the Cruiserweight title.

In the final Interbrand match, Team SmackDown (AJ Styles, Shane McMahon, Bray Wyatt, Randy Orton, and Dean Ambrose) defeated Team RAW (Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman, Seth Rollins, Chris Jericho, and Kevin Owens). The match ended when Orton sacrificed himself and ate a devastating Spear, allowing Bray Wyatt to hit a Sister Abigail on Roman Reigns and pick up the win, bringing the score to 2-3 on that night, with RAW winning in the end.

Score- SmackDown: 4, RAW: 4
