#7 In our list of every Stone Cold Steve Austin match at WrestleMania - Against Scott Hall, WrestleMania XVIII

If there was a single Austin match at WrestleMania that wasn't good, it was against Scott Hall at WrestleMania XVIII. 2002 wasn't a very memorable year for The Texas Rattlesnake and this particular match was disappointing.

The former WWF Champion took on the Hall in a much-awaited dream match. Despite the match not being great, it ended well as Scott Hall stunningly sold the stunner.

#6. Against Savio Vega - WrestleMania XII

Savio Vega and Steve Austin, who were then managed by Ted DiBiase, engaged in a feud leading to a WrestleMania match. It was the first match at the event for both superstars.

The match is usually overshadowed by Austin's other bouts at the event and is almost forgotten. But it was truly an underrated match where both superstars got the chance to shine. Stone Cold eventually won the contest in a little over 10 minutes.

#5. Against The Rock - WrestleMania XV

If this match sits in 5th position on our list of all Steve Austin's best 'Mania matches, one can imagine how good the rest of the list is.

The Rock vs. Steve Austin at WrestleMania XV was a match with an incredible buildup, and it delivered.

Vince McMahon's attempts to beat the rebellious Austin proved to be futile as The Hall of Famer made it to the WrestleMania main event. Furthermore, Mankind got the right to officiate the match by defeating The Big Show.

The Brahma Bull and The Texas Rattlesnake battled back and forth in their first of three Mania matches. Stone Cold finally emerged triumphant in a nail-biting contest and became the WWF Champion.

#4. Against Shawn Michaels - WrestleMania XIV

Stone Cold Steve Austin won the Royal Rumble in 1998 to challenge Shawn Michaels for the WWF Championship. Mike Tyson was subsequently announced as the special outside enforcer who was later revealed to be supporting Michaels as a DX member.

The battle between The Texas Rattlesnake and The Showstopper kept fans on the edge of their seats throughout, and ultimately weighed in favor of Austin.

#3. Against The Rock - WrestleMania XIX

The Attitude Era arch-rivals Rock and Austin were on a long hiatus in 2002. Both returned around the same time almost a month before WrestleMania XIX. The People's Champ's frustration of not beating Austin on the Grandest Stage led to another rematch between the two superstars, making them the first pair of opponents to compete at 'Mania thrice.

The match differed from their previous bouts because it was a clean match with no outside interference, no title was on the line, and it was not the main event either. Rock and Austin fought just to settle their feud.

The match was fun to watch as The Great One taunted The Rattlesnake throughout the match. Finally, The Rock managed to defeat Austin, and it remains the last match the latter has contested thus far.

#2. Against The Rock - WrestleMania XVII

Steve Austin won the Royal Rumble for the third time in his career to challenge then-WWF Champion The Rock. The match was made a no-disqualification just after the two superstars entered the ring.

WrestleMania XVII is perhaps considered the best WrestleMania ever, and the main event between the two superstars is one of the reasons behind that. The bout lasted almost half an hour and had more twists and turns than any of The Rock's movies.

Vince McMahon exploited the no-disqualification stipulation to interfere in the match. But it was not The Rock who he supported. Rather, Mr. McMahon aided his archnemesis Austin and the latter too sided with The Boss after winning the match.

Overall, it was a great match that had its place in history as fans got to see Steve Austin's new side as a heel and his friendship with McMahon afterwards.

#1. Against Bret 'The Hitman' Hart - WrestleMania XII

Steve Austin won the 1997 Royal Rumble match by last eliminating Bret Hart. But instead of chasing the WWF Championship, The Texas Rattlesnake found himself in a feud with Hart.

Ken Shamrock donned a referee's dress for the match that could only end via submission. It began with Austin as the heel and Hart as the babyface, but the scenario turned upside down after the completion of the bout.

The Hitman locked Steve Austin in the sharpshooter where the latter refused to tap out but eventually passed out, awarding the match to Hart. Bret Hart, however, didn't leave Austin and continued his maneuver until Shamrock had to interfere.

The bout overall is one of the best WrestleMania matches of all time and is considered to be the onset of the Attitude Era.
