Asuka and Sasha Banks had a great match at Extreme Rules except for the finish
WWE Superstar Sasha Banks is undoubtedly one of the best wrestlers in WWE today. At Extreme Rules, she challenged Asuka for the RAW Women’s Championship and won. Her 'victory' is not the reason why I have included her in this list. The finish of this title match was bizarre, but it is Sasha Banks’ performance at the PPV that had the WWE Universe in awe.
Sasha Banks and Asuka’s match was well-balanced between both the Superstars. The challenger was cornered on several occasions, but she managed to fight back every single time. There was also a spot which saw Banks slam Asuka against the glass. Their Extreme Rules encounter was indeed brutal, but it was its ending which left a sour taste in the mouth of fans.
Sasha Banks had tapped out to the Asuka Lock, but the referee didn’t see that. Soon, Asuka tried to attack Sasha Banks with the green mist, but the latter moved at the last moment. The plan backfired at Asuka as she ended up taking out the referee instead. Bayley then seized the opportunity and hit Asuka with the title. She then wore the referee’s shirt and did the countdown for the pinfall, helping Banks in becoming the new RAW Women’s Champion.
It would be difficult to guess why WWE thought this finish of an Extreme Rules title match would be a good idea, but they clearly have a plan in place. Regardless, nothing can take away the fact that Sasha Banks looked like an absolute workhorse at Extreme Rules tonight. If anything, she just reminded the WWE Universe why she deserves to be booked in title matches more often.
Not to forget, she helped Bayley in retaining her SmackDown Women’s Championship against Nikki Cross at Extreme rules. Earlier in the night, Bayley was close to losing her title, but Banks helped her best friend by giving her the ‘boss ring’ that Bayley used to illegally hit Cross.
