Former United States Champion Baron Corbin's stint with WWE recently came to an end. Corbin had both good and bad moments during his stint, but the wrestler was appreciated by fans for his work.
However, now that the former SmackDown Superstar has been released, he must deal with it and move on to other things in life. Due to the 40-year-old's body of work, there are many directions in which he can take his career. In this article, we will look at four directions for Corbin after being released from WWE:
#4. Baron Corbin could pursue a career in the Indies
Former WWE writer buries Judgment Day HERE
After Matt Cardona (FKA Zack Ryder) was released from WWE in 2020, he turned his focus to the independent circuit and achieved a lot of success. This strategy is something many professional wrestlers over the last few years have put to use and found success.
Similarly, Baron Corbin can make a name for himself in the Indies. Considering that he is a talented in-ring performer, there will be many independent promotions in the market fighting for the 40-year-old's dates, and this is something he can take advantage of to get the limelight he needs.
#3. A move to TNA
In recent times, TNA Wrestling has been doing very well with storylines and matches. Several popular wrestlers like Nic Nemeth (formerly known as Dolph Ziggler), Matt Hardy, and Jeff Hardy are associated with the promotion. Baron Corbin could also join this list in the coming days.
A major benefit of joining TNA is that the promotion in the last few months has been working closely with WWE, with several stars from the Nashville-based promotion performing on WWE TV. Hence, if the erstwhile King Corbin joins TNA and finds success, it could open a door for him to once again perform for the Sports Entertainment juggernaut.
#2. Feud with MJF in AEW
For those unaware, Baron Corbin is good friends with AEW's top star Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF). They have often been spotted interacting on social media, and their real-life bond can be used to kickstart an on-screen rivalry if Corbin joins the Jacksonville-based promotion.
If he joins AEW, the former NXT Tag Team Champion may get a lot more exposure compared to WWE.
#1. Pursue a career in combat sports
If Baron Corbin is tired of professional wrestling, he can do what CM Punk did: make a switch to MMA. However, unlike The Best in The World, Corbin might actually do well in combat sports because he has the background to pursue the same. For those unaware, Corbin regularly competes in BJJ (Brazilian jiu-jitsu). In December 2023, the former WWE Superstar won a gold medal at the Jiu-Jitsu World League III Gi finals.
Apart from this, he also competed in the 2008 Golden Gloves boxing tournament, and this only helps his case. While one might doubt how much he can achieve in MMA at the age of 40, Corbin would most likely compete in the Heavyweight division, and in this particular division, there have been fighters who have fought in their 40s.
If not MMA, Corbin can also look at a career in grappling. Overall, the former WWE star has many possible directions in which he can move his career. It will be interesting to see what he chooses.
