With the recent episode of SmackDown past us, we are now just a week away from WWE SummerSlam. This year's Biggest Party of the Summer promises exciting bouts featuring top names like Cody Rhodes, CM Punk, and Drew McIntyre. Additionally, fans will witness Seth Rollins serving as the special guest referee when The Scottish Warrior finally faces The Best in the World.

The World Heavyweight Championship will be on the line as Damian Priest defends against the 2024 King of the Ring, Gunther. This world title match is a guaranteed show-stealer that no one should miss. In addition, the Queen of the Ring, Nia Jax, will also get a WWE Women's Championship shot at SummerSlam, clashing with the current Champion, Bayley. Tiffany Stratton's involvement in this storyline adds intrigue, giving her MITB cash-in angle.

Liv Morgan's revenge tour will reach its pinnacle when she defends her Women's World Title against Rhea Ripley. The recent episode of RAW heightened anticipation for this match as Dirty Dom sided with Mami. However, some speculate that Dominik might betray The Eradicator at WWE SummerSlam.

Mid-card titles will also be on the line, with Sami Zayn defending his Intercontinental Championship against Bron Breakker and Logan Paul defending his United States Title against LA Knight.

The Bloodline could walk away with all the gold as Solo Sikoa faces Cody Rhodes in an Undisputed WWE Title match. The possibility of The Bloodline holding all the titles arises from the announcement of DIY vs. Bloodline for the WWE Tag Team Titles on SmackDown before SummerSlam.

If the faction wins the tag titles on this episode and Solo dethrones Cody Rhodes, fans could see The Bloodline leaving SummerSlam with all the championships, except the US Title, where no member of the faction is in contention yet.

The updated card for WWE SummerSlam is as follows:

  • CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre - Seth Rollins will be the special guest referee
  • Sami Zayn (c) vs. Bron Breakker - Singles match for Intercontinental Championship
  • Logan Paul (c) vs. LA Knight - Singles match for United States Championship
  • Liv Morgan (c) vs. Rhea Ripley - Singles match for Women's World Title
  • Bayley (c) vs. Nia Jax - Singles match for WWE Women's Title
  • Damian Priest (c) vs. Gunther - Singles match for the World Heavyweight Title
  • Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Solo Sikoa - Singles match for the Undisputed WWE Title

What surprises are expected to take place at WWE SummerSlam

The Biggest Party of the Summer is undoubtedly one of WWE's grandest premium live events every year, heightening the chances for numerous surprises to unfold, with one of the biggest being the potential return of Roman Reigns at the event. The Tribal Chief is expected to finally make his anticipated return by confronting Solo Sikoa after his match with Cody Rhodes.

Additionally, Dominik Mysterio is expected to turn on Rhea Ripley, officially siding with Liv Morgan in the Women's World Title match. Seth Rollins, currently playing a babyface role on Monday Night RAW, might surprise fans by turning heel as he takes on the role of Special Guest Referee during the show.

Logan Paul has also confirmed that 'Mr. Cleveland' has a surprise planned for his homecoming, which we will witness at SummerSlam. For now, we have to wait for Saturday, August 3, 2024, to see what magic unfolds inside Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio.
