A bout between the former MMA superstars was mooted as a possible headline encounter as soon as Bobby Lashley returned to WWE on the post-Wrestlemania Raw.

Originally considered as a Summerslam main event, Lesnar's announced return to the UFC and Lashley's issues getting over to a headline level following his comeback derailed the encounter from occurring.
However, Lashley's heel turn on the October 8, 2018 episode of Raw and the addition of the charismatic Lio Rush as his mouthpiece have reinvigorated his character and made the chances of this bout happening much more likely.
Imagine the duelling promos between Paul Heyman and Rush. They would be something to behold. The match between the two behemoths who have never squared off before would likely be a suplex spectacle and a hugely entertaining match.
