#2 Sami Zayn
The decision to have Baron Corbin win last year's Money in the Bank seemed like a good one at the time. The Lone Wolf was slowly working his way up the SmackDown ladder and it looked as though he was prepared to take the top prize.
Somewhere down the line, however, the WWE changed their mind with Corbin and decided that he was wasn't quite the man to take the blue brand forward. Corbin ended up failing to cash in against Jinder Mahal, of all people, on the go-home episode of SmackDown just days before SummerSlam 2017 and has not recovered since.
It was clear that Corbin was not the right man to win the briefcase, and taking a look back at last year's competitors, Sami Zayn would have made for a much better option. Zayn was one of the most over babyfaces on SmackDown at the time, and a Money in the Bank briefcase win could have been just what he needed to finally break into the main event scene on Tuesday nights.
With Daniel Bryan on the sidelines at the time, the WWE was crying out for an underdog babyface, and Zayn was the perfect candidate. Of course, Zayn would later go on and turn heel, but things could have been much different for the former El Generico had he taken home the briefcase last June.
