Five superstars who could feud with John Cena after Survivor Series

What next?

What next?

WWE gave a mission to John Cena when they decided to give him the World Heavyweight Championship, which is considered as a second tier title by many compared to the WWE Championship. And the champ seemed to be in the right direction to popularize the title until his feud with Alberto Del Rio started looking stale. Del Rio was in the championship picture for more than five months now and he seemed to be an inferior opponent to Cena. But thankfully for the fans, Survivor Series could be the end of this long running chaos as Del Rio is likely to lose his match and make Cena retain the title. That leaves the door open for a plethora of superstars who could take his place and challenge Cena for a solid rivalry. From youngsters to established stars, there are a variety of options for the creative team to choose from. So here’s a look at the top five superstars who could build a solid feud with John Cena after Survivor Series.

5- Dolph Ziggler

Another shot please...

Another shot please…

After being the champion for some time, Ziggler was dragged back into the midcard when he lost the title to Alberto Del Rio. And if there’s any one who deserves to have another go at the title, it has to be him. It will also be fresh to see the company going for a face vs. face feud rather than the conventional good against evil storylines. Cena and Ziggler share a history of some solid matches with the one at TLC standing out from the rest. Ziggler’s technical abilities would also give some push to Cena in the squared circle and this could benefit the company as well with Ziggler rising again as a top dog.

4- Damien Sandow

A better push perhaps

A better push perhaps

The self-proclaimed savior of the masses made a bad impression among the fans when he lost his Money in the Bank contract without reaping any benefits. Though he promised that he will haunt Cena again, Sandow was seen nowhere near the Champ and was busy boosting the mid card. Sandow is among the rare breed that has the charisma both on the microphone and inside the ring so it seems shameful that the writers didn’t follow up on his meetings with Cena. Instead of leaving such a talent aimless in the company, they could easily give him some more push and end up with a star in their hands. Sandow has been intense and aggressive in the ring recently which makes it the correct time to give the guy a much needed feud with John Cena.

3- Antonio Cesaro

Hot prospect

Hot prospect

Whenever Cesaro stepped inside the ring with Cena, the two managed to produce fireworks so loud that it left the fans scrambling for more. Though he is sported in a heel alliance, Cesaro has been winning the fans over with his in-ring skills. The former Indie darling looks certain to be a big star of the future but the WWE would benefit more if they push him now rather than wasting his talent on a Tag Team. Cesaro has the looks and the mic skills to be in the main event and challenge Cena for a long run. Cesaro’s European uppercut on Cena a week ago still resonates in the mind of fans and has left them thinking about the epic matches they could see if these two finally square off on a grander stage.

2- Mark Henry

Intensified

Intensified

Henry made a fool out of everyone with his retirement news before he went off television due to injury. His new intense look suggests that he wouldn’t be interested in fooling around anymore as he could straight go into title picture and challenge Cena. Henry has been working out and is a lot lighter than he was which could make him much faster inside the ring. And this could work well in various levels as Henry has some star power that the others in the list above him don’t have. It would also make sense if the WWE decides to give him another shot at the title that “he has never held”. And he tweeted about returning shortly adds fuel to the suggestion as it boast the prospect of seeing Cena in the ring with Henry again.

1- Sheamus

A surprise return on the cards?

A surprise return on the cards?

What better way to make a return than brogue kicking the hell out of John Cena and turning heel? Sheamus was more effective as a heel than a babyface which would easily urge the company to return him as a bad guy. Sheamus was battling Del Rio for the title before his absence and this also makes him a credible option for facing Cena. A feud between Cena and Sheamus, who have a lot of history among them, could easily take the popularity of the World Heavyweight Championship to a different level. The four months which was the time needed for his recovery has also finished leaving the Celtic Warrior at the mercy of the creative team for a return. The fans wouldn’t get bored seeing Cena and Sheamus in the ring and a surprise return would only add spice to the confrontation.
