WWE has had trouble with payoffs in storytelling lately and while they will most likely continue to do so on occasion, they have made huge improvements over the past couple of weeks. WWE even added a huge swerve with Lacey Evans as the special guest referee at Stomping Grounds, which is something no one saw coming.
Beyond that, WWE also brought back The Undertaker to team with Roman Reigns, thus bringing The Deadman back to television and using his star power to help pad out a b level pay per view. If nothing else, WWE is opening up to payoff based storytelling and that could be what draws even more fans moving forward!

Think about it! The air is electric and WWE is going to capitalize on that electric energy to keep their product at the top. Of course, WWE is going to have to do a lot more than just emotionally satisfying payoffs in order to satisfy an angry fan base, but the fact that WWE is taking time to build up surprises in their storytelling show that they are gaining momentum.
