#1 Having someone irrelevant win the MITB briefcase

Beyond anything else, the worst thing that WWE can do at Money in The Bank is waste the briefcases on superstars that they have no interest in pushing. Not only do those types of decisions turn into disappointing cash-ins later on down the line, they also leave fans with a bad taste in their mouths after the match.
With that being said, WWE probably need to avoid giving the briefcase to superstars like Big E. Langston, Bobby Roode or The Miz and put it on someone that they can create some kind of long-term plan around. Of course, that doesn't mean they have to be the most relevant person on the roster, but at least give them something to go forward with.
On the women's side of things, WWE needs to avoid making the same mistake they did last year, which was turning the women's Money in The Bank briefcase match into a complete joke. While the company eventually corrected their mistake in a Money in The Bank rematch on Smackdown Live, it was still a huge blow to what was supposed to be something big.
In the end, WWE needs to look at the men and women participating in these two matches and figure out who they can present the best long-term plan with. They also need to consider someone that they can legitimately and realistically catapult to the main event title scene without too much backlash.
Maybe WWE will be able to come to a decision and do what is best for business at Money In The Bank, but they need to be thinking about the bigger picture when they make that decison.
