As awesome as Becky Lynch's heel turn was, her injury has put the The WWE Universe more on her side than ever before and the company is only going against the grain by keeping her as bad guy. In fact, with the amount of fans that are currently behind Lynch as champion, the company could easily turn her face or even a tweener if they wanted to.
Of course to achieve all this, WWE is going to have to turn someone heel and have them attack Becky Lynch, but Lynch could easily get her momentum back in the weeks following the beatdown. Furthermore, WWE could always blame the ambush on Lynch still not being 100%, which will make the beatdown even more gruesome for fans.
In the end, maybe WWE could even have Asuka reveal that she was upset about not being picked to replace Lynch at Survivor Series, which is why she decided to turn on the champion. If nothing else, this at least sets up a feud between the two at the upcoming TLC pay per view and gives Auska the main event spot she deserves again.
