How much chaos can a simple super kick cause? Well not much unless it’s the Sweet Chin Music from the legs of Shawn Michaels himself. His actions at Hell in a Cell against Daniel Bryan have left the WWE fans drooling about a prospect of an elongated feud between the two. And the expectations reached a whole new level when Bryan locked in the Yes lock on Michaels at Raw. But last time I checked Michaels was still retired from wrestling, or is he?
Many legends have come out of retirement to give that one last bow for the fans and Michaels has been resisting such a temptation for the past three years. An apparent heel turn in Hell in a Cell might not rubber stamp his return to the ring, but what we are sure about is that he will have a feud with the fighting goat even if it concludes in a wrestling match or not. And like that, the door opens to endless storylines for the company to cash in. so here is a look at the five possible ways in which the feud could end.
New Champs in WWE! More RIGHT HERE
Daniel Bryan vs. Shawn Michaels with Triple H in his corner
Why: D’oh, because it’s the most obvious way to end a feud with two superstars. And the master against student storylines have always flourished among the fans with Triple H and Randy Orton being one of the prime examples. The match would only serve as a platform for Daniel Bryan to showcase his talent on the grand stage as he is more than certain to lose the match. I mean why would Michaels return to be a loser in WrestleMania? He already did that against the Undertaker. But the ring time with one of the legends could prove as vital experience and a profile boost for Bryan, which the company will need in the future.
How: The stage should certainly be WrestleMania because none of the other pay-per-views have the “factor” to boast the return of Michaels. And the road to WrestleMania would be filled with teasers and great promos between the two with Triple H playing a big part in between all the chaos. WWE could also work on an angle suggesting that Michaels is doing this for his best friend which will add sugar to the cake.
Result: Bryan will lose in an epic match, and next night on Raw, Michaels would praise Bryan for his sheer heart and ability inside the ring thus successfully passing on the torch. And Michaels will go back peacefully into retirement with Triple H likely to leave the goat alone since he lost.
Triple H vs. Daniel Bryan with Shawn Michaels as special guest referee
Why: Shawn Michaels is retired (surprise) and Triple H wants to knock Bryan off the limelight. It’s like one of that Stone Cold vs. Vince McMahon showoff except the fact that Triple H could wrestle properly unlike his father-in-law. Again Bryan would flourish with ring time alongside a legend and this guarantee to seal the career of Triple H as a wrestler. Michaels as the guest referee might add salt to the match and will make that fans think that he would turn against Bryan like he did in HIAC leaving it open for a twist in the climax.
How: Bryan has already turned himself into a rebel like Stone Cold but he doesn’t have the charm of the Attitude Era. Anyway Bryan will test the patience of The Game through various promos and could even provoke him by knocking out Michaels another couple of times which will force Triple H to finally face Bryan inside the ring. The stage is more likely to be WrestleMania as Triple H wouldn’t want to waste his precious time on other pay-per-views.
Result: Triple H retiring from the ring and Bryan being crowned as the new face of the company with Shawn Michaels calling the match straight down the middle. Triple H could then completely concentrate on his office works and Shawn Michaels could walk away to return another day.
Daniel Bryan vs. Brock Lesnar with Shawn Michaels as the special guest referee
Why: Shawn Michaels is retired (surprise again), WWE loves Michaels to be the special guest referee, Triple H needs someone to take care of Bryan and Lesnar can provide the classic David vs. Goliath situation. One of the questions that will be raised here is why Triple H would hire someone who broke his hand? Well, because he is drunk with power and is not the same guy who got his hand broken (He is a heel now to be precise). He could well go over limits to end the career of Bryan in the storyline and what is better than bringing in the beast to do the job and as insurance, get in your best friend who has bad blood with Bryan as the referee.
How: Since Daniel Bryan has already tangled up with Triple H’s best friend, it won’t be late before the COO responds. And he could bring Lesnar as an enforcer to teach Bryan some lesson with the match being set up for the Royal Rumble. Shawn Michaels could be portrayed as a man who is confused to choose between his best friend and his best student, which could lead to an interesting and unpredictable twist and turns in the match.
Result: Bryan should win this one as Lesnar wouldn’t mind losing in the Rumble. But Michaels’ involvement will be crucial and could set him up against Lesnar in WrestleMania, which makes all the sense in the world. As for Daniel Bryan he would go back and challenge for a title with the satisfaction that he played a role in setting up the WrestleMania main event.
Louisiana screw job: Daniel Bryan vs. John Cena with Shawn Michaels as special guest referee and Triple H on ringside.
Why: Ratings, simple as that. Why did Vince McMahon screw Bret Hart? He wanted ratings and at the current stage WWE could use a lot of that. A controversial WrestleMania moment would be more than enough for the company to regain some foothold. It will be the B+ star against the face of the company with Michaels involved in the screw job giving historical significance to the match. The story line could also end Bryan’s miserable time in WWE in which he has been repeatedly held down.
How: Cena won the Heavy weight Championship in Hell in a Cell which ensures him a WrestleMania main event (since there is no one likely to snatch the title from him till then). Meanwhile, Bryan has been shoved out of the title scene by Triple H which will produce one of the most exciting underdog stories in the business: Bryan earning his title shot by winning the Royal Rumble. And what does Triple H do to stop him do that? Bring in Shawn Michaels who would be having a lot of promos with his favorite student as a buildup. And as the stage will be set all it needs is Triple H to pullout a Vince McMahon moment with the following replications.
Vince McMahon = Triple H
Bret Hart = Daniel Bryan
Shawn Michaels = John Cena
Earl Hebner = Shawn Michaels
Result: Boosted ratings and full houses for Raw, Triple H cements his spot as a corporate heel. Shawn Michaels heads off with another screw job; John Cena is still the champ and Daniel Bryan back to the Indies or TNA for a minimum of more than two years.
Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels
Why: They are best friends but who is the best wrestler? This could be a bit unfair to Bryan but this is the most likely outcome of the current situation. Triple H wants to hang up his boots as a wrestler and Shawn Michaels needs another moment in WrestleMania and most importantly the fans would love to see these two go at it for one last time. It is what’s best for business and could make the 30th anniversary of WrestleMania shine even brighter.
How: There’s not much work to be put on here, the situation between the two is already in turmoil. Triple H wouldn’t want the help of his best friend to swipe off Bryan which can open an argument on who the best is. Once Undertaker said that Michaels is better than Triple H, and this adds further ego to the feud. A contract singing, a walk down the past, some interviews and a D generation X reunion; all could work as a build up to the big match and thus setting the stage for one final epic main event.
Result: it’s a onetime match and after WrestleMania the company won’t have anything to feed upon, Michaels will be the favorite to win as he would want to sing off on a winning note. Triple H would go banging in the office doors with his wife, while the future of the company will be completely handed to the hands of the younger breed like Daniel Bryan and John Cena.
